Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Gets a New Release Ahead of Season 3

The popular anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is currently airing its second season, but it will be shorter than initially planned. The season follows Frieren and her companions on their adventures and will finish in March 2026 with its tenth episode. Their travels take them through some incredibly perilous areas. The season recently paused for a week to prepare for the ‘Divine Revolte Arc,’ a fan-favorite storyline, and there’s another exciting announcement coming for viewers just before the season ends.

Yen Press has announced the first volume of the Prelude novel will be released on March 17, 2026. The 160-page book will be available in paperback and digital formats on Amazon, Crunchyroll, and other select retailers. Pre-orders are open now! This novel, originally published in 2024, features five new short stories following Frieren and her companions – Fern, Stark, Lawine, Kanne, and Aura – on fresh adventures. While Tsukasa Abe provides the illustrations, Mei Hachimoku wrote the novel with supervision from manga writer Kanehito Yamada.

What Will Happen in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3?

Season 3 of the anime is scheduled to premiere next October, and it will cover the popular Golden Land Arc from the original manga. Immediately following the Season 2 finale, the official website announced the release timeframe and revealed a first glimpse of Mahat of the Golden City, a powerful member of the Seven Sages of Destruction. The new season will follow Frieren and her companions as they travel to the legendary land of gold and meet this intriguing character.

Fern and Stark don’t know it yet, but the anime has revealed that Denken, a powerful mage who took the exam with them, is from a town where everything has mysteriously turned to gold. The group will meet up with him again next season and help him face a difficult challenge, as he’s preparing to confront his enemy and a possible fatal outcome.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End  Manga Is Still on Indefinite Hiatus

The anime is currently on hold, and there’s still no news about when the manga will continue. It went on hiatus last October because the creators, writer Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe, needed to prioritize their health and work on the series at a comfortable speed.

The series went on another break last year, following a short return to publishing in July after a previous break in January. Both creators are taking time to rest and prioritize their health while still actively working on the story. This break is simply to help them get back on a sustainable schedule, and new chapters are anticipated in a few months.
