Fans of Rick and Morty will soon be able to enjoy new episodes, and UK viewers now have a new place to watch!
The popular animated show, starring a cynical grandpa Rick and his patient grandson Morty, is staying strong, and now its co-creator, Dan Harmon, has revealed plans for a movie adaptation.
The ninth season has arrived, and it’s expected to be both highly entertaining and shocking. According to official previews, this season is full of fantastic episodes and completely original content.
They described their work as simply honest, human-made content – flawed and imperfect, just like the people who created it. They pleaded with viewers to watch, saying all their effort and sacrifice would be for nothing if no one did.
Want to know how to watch the latest season of Rick and Morty in the UK? Here’s everything you need to know about season 9 of this hugely popular animated show.
How to watch Rick and Morty season 9 in the UK

The ninth season of Rick and Morty will premiere on HBO Max in the UK on May 25, 2026. This represents a significant shift in how the show has been released in the past.
From 2020, new episodes of the animated series first became available in the UK on E4 and Channel 4’s streaming service. They were shown there exclusively for a period of time before moving to Netflix.
I was really excited when HBO Max finally came to the UK, but I was surprised to learn that Warner Bros. pulled all their popular animated shows, like those on Adult Swim, and decided to stream them on their own platform instead. It’s a bit disappointing as a fan!
For now, season 9 of Rick and Morty will only be available on HBO Max. While the first eight seasons are still streaming on Netflix, it’s unknown if season 9 will eventually be added there as well.
As a big fan of having lots of options, it’s been a bit frustrating seeing shows move around lately. Just like Channel 4, Netflix felt the impact when HBO Max launched – it really stung when Friends left after being on Netflix for over ten years! It’s a big loss for them, as that show was constantly being rewatched, and now it’s exclusive to the competition.
That’s just how things are with streaming services now. Shows are constantly being removed or moved to different platforms, and keeping up with all the subscriptions quickly becomes expensive and overwhelming.
Sky is now offering a single subscription that bundles together several popular streaming services – including Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and more – alongside its traditional Sky TV service. This suggests the streaming market is becoming increasingly competitive and convenient for consumers. You can learn more about this new ‘ultimate TV package’ here.
