Okay, so I just heard some news that’s a bit sad for Emmerdale fans – Bradley Johnson, who plays Vinny Dingle, is leaving the show. Apparently, he’s been let go after seven years of being on the soap. It’s always a shame to see actors leave long-running shows, and Vinny’s been a fun character to watch!
David Johnson became part of the Emmerdale cast in 2019 when Mandy Dingle returned, and he’s been involved in several major storylines since then.
According to The Sun, the show’s cast was surprised by the decision to let him go, but it’s part of broader cost-cutting measures at ITV and further cast reductions are still expected.
ITV declined to comment when approached by TopMob.
Last year, Johnson tackled Vinny’s sexuality storyline, with events taking a terrifying turn.
Johnson said he was completely surprised by the decision regarding Vinny, as he hadn’t anticipated that direction at all, according to TopMob and other news outlets.
Once Sophie and Laura explained the plot, I found it really engaging! Considering Vinny’s history with Liv and everything he’s dealt with, it’s a compelling story about a young man who’s feeling lost and uncertain.
News of Johnson’s exit follows reports that Nick Miles, who played Jimmy King for two decades, is leaving the show. His character will be killed off in an upcoming dramatic storyline.
TopMob knows Miles is still filming for the TV drama in Leeds and won’t be finished appearing on screen until fall.
Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn Fletcher on Emmerdale, is leaving the show later this year.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
