Johannes Radebe shared some exciting news with fans about what he’ll be doing with ballroom dancing after his time on Strictly Come Dancing this year.
The professional dancer will be the new host of the show, joining Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe. This comes after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman decided to leave.
When the news was shared, Radebe expressed his excitement, saying he never expected to be back on Strictly Come Dancing in this new capacity. He feels honored to contribute to the show’s spirit of joy, warmth, and community, which has always been important to him.
Being able to do this with the amazing Emma Willis and the incredibly talented Josh Widdicombe makes it all the more exciting. I’m a little nervous, but ready to go – sequins and all! Please be patient with me. Love, Jojo.
Since the announcement, it’s been unclear exactly what roles everyone will have. Before the host was revealed, the BBC had already announced the professional dancers, including Radebe.

I’m so excited! The South African dancer just gave us a little preview of what he’s planning for the show in September, and it sounds amazing. I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store!
I was listening to Johannes Radebe on the radio with Graham Norton, and he made it perfectly clear he has no plans to stop dancing anytime soon! He said he absolutely will be continuing to dance and move – it’s just too much a part of who he is, he can’t imagine life without it. It was so great to hear his passion!
Although Radebe likely won’t be paired with a celebrity this season, he might still appear in group performances throughout the show.
According to Kate Phillips, the BBC’s head of content, Emma, Johannes, and Josh have a fantastic connection. She expressed relief that they can finally confirm the news after a lot of rumors and excitement.
As a lifelong fan of cinema, I’ve seen a lot of surprising choices, but this one really got me! We carefully considered everyone involved, and honestly, the UK’s most iconic ballroom always sets the standard. So, in a first for the show, we’ve decided to go with three incredible hosts – it’s a bold move, but I think it’ll be amazing.
As a huge fan of Strictly, I’m so excited about the new series! The team is already working hard to make it spectacular, and I know these three new contestants are really looking forward to joining the judges and professional dancers to deliver some truly unmissable TV on the BBC this fall.
Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
