Earlier this year, Taiwanese developer SIGONO released OPUS: Prism Peak, a photography-focused adventure game that received excellent reviews on both Switch and PC. It quickly became one of the top 15 highest-rated games of 2026.
The game is now officially coming to PlayStation 5 later this year. Sony demonstrated a playable version at the BitSummit event in Kyoto this weekend.
I’ve encountered this game a few times at independent game showcases in Taipei, and I’m always impressed by its colorful and lively art style.
In this game, you play as a photographer in their 40s or 50s who leaves the city and a disappointing past behind to reconnect with their family and find peace.
You unexpectedly find yourself lost in a beautiful, otherworldly mountain landscape. Teaming up with a mysterious girl, you’ll use your camera to uncover clues and reveal the secrets of this strange and captivating place.
The game’s visuals are strongly reminiscent of Makoto Shinkai’s films, particularly Weathering With You and Suzume. It’s clear those movies were a major influence on its art style and color palette.
As I noted before, the game received excellent reviews. RPG Fan, for example, gave it a score of 92 out of 100 and called it a truly exceptional adventure.
The reviewer described the work as both moving and optimistic, capturing the essence of life and personal growth. They admitted to being frequently moved to tears, sometimes by sadness, and other times by a hopeful desire for something greater, acknowledging that life’s journey is rarely straightforward.
I’m really excited to play this, so I hope it’s not too long before it launches.
