Dexter: Resurrection Subtly Reveals Two Secret Character Returns In Production Update

Be warned, this contains spoilers for the first season of Dexter: Resurrection. The show may be planning to feature some familiar and beloved characters from the past.

The Dexter series made audiences fascinated with Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall), a serial killer who secretly targeted other murderers who had avoided punishment. Since the original show, several spin-offs have been created, including Dexter: Original Sin, Dexter: New Blood, and Dexter: Resurrection. The newest series, Dexter: New Blood, has become the most popular and critically acclaimed installment in the Dexter story.

Director and producer Marcos Siega, known for Dexter: Resurrection, announced on Instagram that filming is underway in New York City. Fans believe a detail in the post may hint at a significant development. Siega mentioned his ongoing collaboration with Perri Frank, stating they’ve worked together since the beginning of Dexter: New Blood, and shared they are currently editing episode 201 together, alongside a picture of a porcelain cat.

The pictures on the wall behind Siega’s desk might reveal which characters will reappear in season 2, potentially including David Zayas as Angel Batista. Zayas previously reprised his role as Batista from the original series in ‘Dexter: Resurrection.’ Despite Batista’s death in season one – after he learned Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher – his return suggests Dexter may be facing his past in a very real way.

A new image reveals Eric Stonestreet reprising his role as Al Walker from season one of Dexter: Resurrection. Al appears as a seemingly normal family man, but secretly leads a double life as Rapunzel, a cruel serial killer who collects ponytails from his victims. Notably, Al was the first killer to ever escape Dexter’s kill room. Given Dexter’s tendency to tie up loose ends, Al’s reappearance wouldn’t be unexpected.

Editing is underway for the first episode of Dexter: Resurrection season 2, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the popular show. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, it’s currently expected around October 2026. The production team, including writer Scott Reynolds, has been keeping fans updated with sneak peeks on social media.

Season two brings fresh faces to the New York City setting, with Brian Cox playing the notorious New York Ripper and Dan Stevens as the Five Borough Killer. Despite narrowly avoiding Dexter’s wrath by attending to her ailing mother, Uma Thurman will reprise her role as Charley Brown. Her return is bound to cause complications, as Dexter always seems to attract trouble.

Dexter: Resurrection is available to stream on Paramount+.
