Both Invincible and The Boys are incredibly popular superhero stories that started as comics outside of the mainstream DC and Marvel universes. What sets them apart is their gritty and violent take on the traditional superhero genre. They’ve become even more popular thanks to their adaptations on Amazon – Invincible as a unique animated series and The Boys as a groundbreaking live-action show. Because both stories originated as reactions against typical superhero tropes – and aren’t really about superheroes in the classic sense – it’s understandable that fans are eager to see a crossover between the two.
Considering how popular both The Boys and Invincible are, and the fact that both Homelander and Omni-Man are dark twists on the Superman archetype, it’s natural to wonder about a potential crossover. While a TV show crossover is unlikely now that The Boys has finished, many fans may not realize the comics actually had a very subtle connection. A special variant cover for The Boys #18 featured a bloodied hand, which co-creator Darick Robertson later confirmed belonged to Invincible. The comic depicted The Boys killing Invincible, but raises the question of whether that’s how things would really play out.
Super-Powered Boys Against a Not-So Invincible Hero

If Mark Grayson (Invincible) faced the team from The Boys, he’d win easily. While The Boys are experienced fighters, Invincible’s power is on a completely different scale. The biggest obstacle in The Boys was always overcoming Homelander’s immense strength, which set him far above everyone else. But Invincible is vastly more powerful than Homelander. Homelander’s impressive feats, like throwing jets and destroying buildings, pale in comparison to Mark regularly traveling across the solar system and even helping to destroy a planet.
The comic book version of The Boys had superpowers themselves, gaining incredible strength from Compound V to battle evil supes. Even then, Homelander was significantly stronger, and Invincible demonstrated even greater feats of power – he even fought on the sun! While The Boys are strong and experienced fighters, they wouldn’t stand a chance against Invincible. Any fight wouldn’t go as the cover suggests. However, The Boys often portrays heroes as weaker versions of themselves, so if that show’s writers were handling Invincible, he’d likely lose, even if it didn’t make sense.
