Fleur Shomo is reflecting on her marriage with Caleb Shomo.
Following Beartooth’s lead singer publicly coming out as gay on May 23rd, his wife of 14 years has now spoken out about it.
Fleur shared on Instagram on May 23rd that the last few months have been confusing and painful for both her and Caleb. Despite everything, she expressed that she will always care deeply for him, wanting to love, protect, and support him, and that his well-being has always been her top priority.
While Fleur is glad Caleb is being true to himself, she also shared that it has been hurtful for her.
She described watching him struggle, experiencing both good and bad days, and feeling helpless to fix things. She explained that all you want for someone you care about is for them to be alright, but it’s also natural to wonder how their struggles will affect your own life and to feel frustrated and even angry about it.
She explained that she was uniquely burdened by the conflicting emotions of the situation. Supporting him through a difficult time while simultaneously experiencing her own profound loss has been incredibly challenging. It’s been a struggle to offer love and support while also feeling completely broken and losing herself in the process.
Fleur also announced the pair’s breakup after more than a decade of marriage.

She described their almost 14 years of marriage as joyful, adventurous, and filled with love. ‘No one else could possibly understand our relationship the way we do,’ she explained. ‘The true depth of love between two people is something only they can fully know.’
Fleur confessed she already deeply missed both her husband and their life together. She acknowledged they had a beautiful relationship, but now it was over.
Just hours before, Caleb, the singer for the alternative metalcore band Beartooth since 2012, publicly shared that he is gay.
Caleb recently addressed rumors about his personal life in an Instagram post. He stated he felt it was important to clarify that he is gay, and he wanted to do so to protect his loved ones from further speculation.

“This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now,” the 33-year-old added. “It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact.”
Honestly, it’s amazing to see Caleb finally being himself. For so long, he was just…numbing everything with alcohol. It wasn’t until he got sober that he could really face who he is and, like, truly understand it. It’s such a powerful transformation, and I’m so proud of him for getting to this point!
He advises anyone questioning their identity to be kind to themselves. Instead of suppressing difficult feelings, as he once did, he encourages people to confront and work through them.
He explained that keeping these feelings bottled up was only causing pain for himself and those he cared about. He finished by saying he loved everyone and hoped this was a positive step towards self-love.
