Nintendo Orders 20 Million Switch 2 Consoles for Fiscal Year 2027 – Rumor

Nintendo has had a bit of a mixed year so far, particularly when it comes to the Switch 2. Reports of a 30% cut in US production and a planned price increase worldwide suggested potential difficulties ahead. However, Bloomberg reports that Nintendo has actually requested 20 million units of the Switch 2 from its manufacturing partners, indicating strong confidence in the new console.

According to reports, Nintendo is planning for continued high demand for its consoles through March 31st, 2027. This plan anticipates selling 20 percent more units than their previous forecast of 16.5 million. Although the plan isn’t set in stone and could be adjusted, it suggests Nintendo believes sales will be stronger than expected and is proactively increasing its inventory.

According to analyst Serkan Toto, the company benefits from initially setting low expectations and then exceeding them. He points to the recent fiscal year as a clear illustration of this strategy.

Even if that’s the case, it’s likely the company has other projects they haven’t revealed yet, which could change things. We know about games like Splatoon Raiders and a new Star Fox title, both coming out this summer, but it’s still unclear what they have planned for the fall and holiday seasons.

It looks like the long-rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time might actually be happening! Reports suggest it could be released before the holidays, and we might get an official announcement as early as mid-June during the next Nintendo Direct. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
