While the new Spider-Man movie is expected to release on July 31st, Marvel is already sharing fresh footage of Spider-Man. Recent on-set filming has sparked speculation among fans that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker might be joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
A Reddit post showed someone dressed as Spider-Man filming a scene near Wembley Stadium. With the movie Brand New Day coming out soon, fans are wondering if this footage is actually for Avengers: Doomsday. So far, Marvel hasn’t confirmed Spider-Man’s involvement, but it would make sense, as Sony and Marvel had to work out a deal to allow Spider-Man to appear in movies outside of his own franchise, specifically for Doomsday.
New Spider-Man Filming Leaves Fans Curious As Brand New Day Approaches
A photo from the set suggests Spider-Man was actually a stunt performer, not Tom Holland. This indicates the filming was likely for something that didn’t require Holland himself – perhaps a post-credits scene or some reshoots. As of now, the reason for the filming and the specific project remain unconfirmed.
Despite the limited information, fans on Reddit quickly began analyzing the photo and sharing their theories. One commenter suggested it was likely a quick reshoot, while others speculated it could be related to advertising or promotional material for the movie. Another fan pointed out that it resembled a similar pattern seen with the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four films just before their releases.
Okay, so we’re all still wondering if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will show up in Doomsday, and that’s going to be a bit of a wait. But the good news is we won’t have to wait as long for Brand New Day! From what I understand, this new movie has Peter Parker secretly protecting the city while he tries to figure out who – or what – this really powerful new villain is. And get this – his powers are changing too, in a pretty unexpected way! It sounds really interesting.
The new movie, Brand New Day, is set four years after the events of No Way Home. That previous film ended with a spell that made everyone forget who Peter Parker is, including those closest to him. Although some viewers speculated about the roles of MJ and Ned, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will both return to reprise their characters in Brand New Day.
Tom Holland’s Spidey Might Actually Be In Secret Wars — Not Doomsday
Some fans speculated that Spider-Man might be filming for a movie called Doomsday, but a more likely possibility emerged. While filming for Doomsday finished last year – with some additional shooting hinted at – its sequel wasn’t planned to start until mid-2026.
The short time between the release of Brand New Day and the start of Secret Wars filming might be exactly what Marvel needs to keep Spider-Man’s role in the next Avengers story a secret without revealing too much. It probably isn’t going to focus on Brand New Day or Doomsday, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anything can happen.
The new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday will follow on December 18th, and Secret Wars is currently planned for release on December 17, 2027.
