For nearly 50 years, Star Wars has profoundly shaped the film industry. From the groundbreaking impact of The Empire Strikes Back, which influenced filmmaking across Hollywood, to launching the careers of major stars, Star Wars has had an unparalleled effect since its debut.
It’s hard to measure the full impact of the Star Wars films. Many people working in the movie industry – actors, directors, writers, and more – say Star Wars inspired them to pursue their careers. In fact, a well-known actor from The Lord of the Rings recently revealed that Star Wars sparked his dream of becoming an actor, meaning fans of The Lord of the Rings might owe a debt of gratitude to the galaxy far, far away for one of their favorite performances.
Dominic Monaghan Became An Actor Because Of Star Wars

I was at Fan Expo Philadelphia this year, and it was amazing! So many of the stars from The Lord of the Rings were there to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring. Seriously, all four of the main hobbits – Elijah Wood (Frodo), Sean Astin (Sam), Billy Boyd (Pippin), and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) – were all together for panels! It was a huge treat for a fan like me.
Interestingly, actor Warwick Monaghan – who played Beaumont Kin in the recent Star Wars sequels – revealed that the franchise inspired him to pursue acting. He stated simply, “Star Wars is the reason I’m an actor,” and explained that he first saw The Empire Strikes Back as a child, even before seeing the original Star Wars film (originally released as A New Hope).
He first connected Harrison Ford to the character Han Solo while watching Indiana Jones, and his parents explained that Ford was simply acting a different part. This inspired Monaghan, who said he decided he wanted to do the same thing as an actor. He also recounted a special moment on the set of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker where he got to be alone with R2-D2 and told the droid it had been his “best friend” when he was nine years old.
Love It Or Hate It, Star Wars’ Impact Is Immeasurable

Star Wars has always been a huge franchise, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. Over the years, some movies and shows have faced strong criticism, and the fanbase is known for being very vocal – sometimes harshly – about what they like and dislike. Regardless of personal opinions, it’s undeniable that Star Wars has left a significant mark on popular culture.
Monaghan isn’t alone in having a strong reaction to seeing Star Wars as a kid. Many actors, including current Superman star David Corenswet, are huge fans. Even people who dislike Star Wars now have to acknowledge its enormous and lasting influence – its reach is simply massive.
