Capcom just announced that their new action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time as it launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S – September 25th. A brief trailer highlighted features unique to the Switch 2 version.
In addition to classic Onimusha: Way of the Sword features like blocking, deflecting, and powerful Oni Armaments, Capcom has announced that players can now use motion controls with the Joy-Con 2 controllers to perform attacks. The trailer showed some examples of this, such as swinging a Joy-Con 2 side-to-side for horizontal slashes or up and down for vertical attacks, though a complete list of available moves wasn’t revealed.
A trailer revealed the release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword over the weekend. Along with the announcement, a free demo was released so players can try out the game.
The new trailer features Musashi battling a formidable enemy, revealed to be the infamous Shuten-dōji, within a mountain castle. Shuten-dōji proves to be a challenging opponent with his relentless attacks. The trailer also highlights Musashi’s ability to transform into the powerful Onimusha when facing defeat.
After a 20-year hiatus, a new Onimusha game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, is on the way. The last major installment, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, was released back in 2006.
