Shift Up, the Korean studio behind Stellar Blade, has long expressed a desire to release the game on all platforms, and it now appears their publishing deal with Sony has ended.
So, I was really excited when this awesome hack-and-slash game first came out on PlayStation 5, but it was only available there for a while. Luckily, it hit PC last year, and now the developers just announced it’s coming to the Switch 2! I’m stoked because that means I’ll be able to play it on the go.
Honestly, this doesn’t really shock me. The studio’s been hinting at this for a while now. Plus, the boss, Hyung-tae Kim, just recently said some really good things about PlayStation as a partner, so I don’t think they’re on bad terms at all.
Shift Up is eager to expand its brand. Having successfully launched the game in western markets with support from Sony’s marketing expertise, the company is now prepared to operate more independently and grow on its own.
I just learned that the team behind Stellar Blade is planning to self-publish their next game, Blood Rain! That’s awesome to hear, though it sounds like we’re still a ways off from actually playing it – probably years, unfortunately.
