The most critically underrated film is heading to a new streaming home. Unsurprisingly, fans will still be flocking to Pluto TV to rewatch Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Pluto TV has officially announced the next upcoming addition to the platform, and it’s coming soon. Beginning July 1, fans will be able to stream Transformers: Rise of the Beasts completely free on Pluto TV, joining the ranks of Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, all of which are already available for streaming on the platform.
Why Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Was Such a Hit With Fans
Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and written by Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, and Erich and Jon Hoeber, this is the seventh live-action Transformers movie and a continuation of the story from 2018’s Bumblebee. The film introduces Unicron, a planet-eating robot, in a full appearance. Though hinted at in 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight, Unicron looks quite different this time around.
The movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback as Noah Diaz and Elena Wallace. They play a former soldier with tech skills and a researcher who both get caught up in a fight to save the world. The cast also includes Tobe Nwigwe, Sarah Stiles, Leni Parker, Aidan Devine, Luna Lauren Vélez, Dean Scott Vazquez, Michael Kelly, and Lucas Huarancca.
When Transformers: Rise of the Beasts came out, it was a big success at the box office, earning $441.7 million worldwide on a budget of about $200 million. Although critics weren’t very impressed (giving it a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), fans loved the movie. In fact, it received a 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – the highest of any live-action Transformers film.
What’s Next for the Transformers Franchise?
While there aren’t any firm plans for a new live-action Transformers movie right now – partly because Transformers One didn’t perform as well financially as hoped – fans still have lots to enjoy. The franchise is actually celebrating a significant anniversary at the moment.
Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have released a special series celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie comic book adaptation. This reprints the original Marvel comic, which has been hard to find for collectors. A hardcover collection is also available, featuring bonus content you won’t find anywhere else.
Alyse D’Antuono, a Vice President at Hasbro, explained that the new book celebrates a pivotal moment in the Transformers story – Optimus Prime’s death – and the exciting narratives that followed. Hasbro wants to acknowledge the lasting impact of this event, express gratitude to fans for their 40 years of dedication, and commemorate this anniversary with special events, toys, and entertainment.
You’ll be able to watch Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on Pluto TV for free starting July 1st.
