Inside Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Twins Knox and Vivienne’s World

It’s the curious case of Benjamin Button how Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s son Knox is already a high school graduate.

The 17-year-old recently celebrated the achievement with his classmates, according to a photo and video shared by an Angelina fan account. However, Knox’s new diploma wasn’t the only thing on his mind.

“Tonight, I’m gonna be fighting at Total Sonic Knockout 5 at 12:45 a.m., so catch me,” the teen told the crowd in the video about the event, which is described as a combination of martial arts and a rave. “I’m gonna knock ‘em the f–k out!”

Knox’s graduation and interest in Muay Thai are rare insights into his world. After all, the last time he made a red carpet appearance was almost two years ago, when he attended the 2024 Governor’s Awards with his mom. Before that, Knox hadn’t been photographed at a high-profile event since 2021, when he went to Eternals U.K. premiere with Angelina, his twin sister Vivienne and siblings Maddox, 24, Zahara, 21, and Shiloh, 20.

However, this may not surprise fans as the actress has noted her kids—who also include 22-year-old Pax—prefer to live a life out of the spotlight.

“None of my children want to be in front of the camera,” Angelina revealed on Good Morning America in 2024. “They’re quite private. Shiloh’s extremely private. They weren’t born with privacy. So, I hope they can have that as they grow.”

Indeed, after Knox and Vivienne were born in July 2008, Angelina and now-ex-husband Brad sold the first photos of the babies for millions of dollars and donated the money to charity.

“It’s a strange thing to have to do or to do, but it was the better option,” the Changeling star admitted at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, recalling how the paparazzi hounded her family. “But also, it was for their safety. They were coming for it, and it was a safety concern as well. So, it was just better to control it in a safe place, in a safe way, and do something good with it—which, if you can, is much better.”

In People’s cover story about the twins, Angelina offered a peek inside life with the newborns at the Château Miraval in France.

“It is chaos,” she said at the time, “but we are managing it and having a wonderful time.”

And the Oscar winner shared how Shiloh and Zahara had already stepped in to their big sister roles. “[Shiloh] and Z pick out [the twins’] clothes and help change and hold them,” she continued. “It’s sweet—they are little mommies.”

As their children got older, they began to see more of what their parents did in the movie world. In 2014, Vivienne even acted with Angelina in the film Maleficent, playing a young Princess Aurora to her mother’s role as the villain.

Angelina explained to British Vogue that while she and Brad enjoyed having their kids make brief appearances on set, they didn’t want them to become actors. She said Vivienne was the only one of the young children who wasn’t scared of the Maleficent costume and felt comfortable filming.

Two years later, Knox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh all provided voice work for Angelina’s animated movie, Kung Fu Panda 3.

Angelina told Entertainment Tonight that her children were hesitant about acting, but she didn’t want them to miss out on the experience. They ended up having fun with it.

Even though Angelina Jolie’s children aren’t interested in being on screen, they all share a love for the arts. Maddox and Pax helped behind the scenes on Jolie’s film, Maria, Shiloh danced in the music video for K-pop artist Dayoung’s song “What’s a Girl to Do,” and Vivienne assisted her mom with the Broadway production of The Outsiders.

Vivienne’s involvement was particularly meaningful for Jolie, reminding her of her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand.

In a statement to TopMob News, Jolie explained, “Viv reminds me of my mother because she prefers to support other artists rather than be in the spotlight. She’s very considerate and dedicated to theater, and she works hard to learn how she can best contribute.”

Similar to her older brothers and sisters, Vivienne seems to have left off her father’s last name when her name was printed in the program, appearing simply as “Vivienne Jolie,” several news sources report.

Angelina Jolie’s most recent public appearance was at the 2024 Tony Awards. While her children value their privacy, she also plans to leave Los Angeles once her twins, Knox and Vivienne, turn 18 in July.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 51-year-old explained that she stayed in Los Angeles due to the terms of her divorce, but is eager to move once her children are adults. She wants to provide her family with privacy, peace, and safety, something she feels is difficult to achieve in Los Angeles. She noted that her experiences traveling the world have shown her a different way of life than what she grew up with locally.

Angelina intends to spend a significant amount of time in Cambodia and visiting family members around the globe.

Angelina Jolie first fell in love with Cambodia while filming the movie Tomb Raider in 2001. Later, she traveled to Battambang, a town in the Cambodian countryside, hoping to adopt a child.

Walking through, “I didn’t feel a connection with any of them,” she later told Vanity Fair, until she saw Maddox—born Aug. 5, 2001—lying in a box suspended from the ceiling. Feeling that bond in an instant, she said, “I cried and cried.”

She adopted her oldest son as a single parent. Later, after she started a relationship with Brad Pitt, he began the process to also adopt him.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt became an executive producer on his mother Angelina Jolie’s 2017 film, First They Killed My Father, because of his interest in her work. The film is based on a book by Loung Ung, Jolie’s friend, detailing the Cambodian genocide under the Khmer Rouge. Maddox explained to People magazine that he wanted to contribute to the project in any way he could. He also described his mother as “fun, funny, and easy to work with,” adding that “She’s a wonder.”

Maddox studied biochemistry at Yonsei University in South Korea, much to his mother’s delight. In April 2023, he was invited to a state dinner at the White House hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee.

Angelina Jolie described Pax’s early childhood as difficult. Born on November 29, 2003, he spent the first three and a half years of his life in a Vietnamese orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City, sharing a small iron bed with around twenty other children and having no control over his own life.

After joining Angelina Jolie’s family with Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh, he quickly adapted to a more open and loving environment. She explained that he’s learning English and is full of energy and joy, enjoying his newfound freedom. Despite a challenging start, he’s proving to be a resilient and extraordinary child.

I’ve been following Pax’s work for a while now, and it’s been amazing to see him get involved in creative projects! He actually voiced a character, Yoo, in Angelina’s Kung Fu Panda 3 back in 2016, which I thought was really cool. He also worked as a set photographer on First They Killed My Father, and it was so heartwarming to see him attend the 2018 Golden Globes with his mom. It’s clear he’s passionate about film, and I’m excited to see what he does next!

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE how involved he is with everything Angelina does! He actually helped decorate her Atelier Jolie in New York – can you imagine?! Like, he was there, making it beautiful! And it doesn’t stop there! He was even on the set of her movie, Without Blood, in Italy, working as an assistant director! Seriously, he’s everywhere, supporting her art, and I’m just…living for it!

Angelina explained to People that working with her sons, Pax and Maddox, felt natural because a good film set often feels like a family.

When Angelina visited an orphanage in Hawassa, Ethiopia, she brought her then-3-year-old son, Maddox, and they met her oldest daughter, Zahara, who was born on January 8, 2005. Angelina later told Anderson Cooper that Maddox adored Zahara. Because Zahara was already seven months old when she joined the family, Maddox treated her like a little sibling he could cuddle and watch.

Zahara, like her brothers and sisters, is fascinated by her mother’s work. She’s been involved in various aspects of it, from attending red carpet events to launching her own jewelry line, the Zahara Collection, with jeweler Robert Procop in 2019. She also participates in her mother’s humanitarian work, including visiting refugee camps in Syria with the UNHCR.

In August 2022, Angelina grew emotional while dropping Zahara off at Atlanta’s Spelman College (“I haven’t started crying yet so…hopefully I can hold it together,” she shared in an Instagram video), later returning for the HBCU’s homecoming festivities.

Zahara—who joined the school’s Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority in 2023—has also accompanied the actress on several trips to Washington, D.C. She was by Angelina’s side when she gave a tearful speech promoting the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act in February 2022 and a year later when they met with lawmakers to advocate for the passage of the Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2022.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter, Shiloh, into the world on May 27, 2006, at a hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia. In an interview with MSN, Angelina described Shiloh as being full of joy and humor, calling her a “little honey” and playfully predicting she would be a bit mischievous – just like her!

Making her red carpet debut at the Unbroken premiere in 2014, Shiloh went on to appear at events for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Breadwinner and Dumbo, the 2018 National Board of Review Awards Gala and the 2021 Eternals red carpet, where she wore Mom’s Dior gown.

Angelina Jolie told TopMob’s Daily Pop that she loves when her kids borrow clothes from her closet. She encourages them to wear the clothes with confidence, even better than she does, and happily lets them have whatever they want. She says she’s definitely the kind of mom who encourages sharing and letting her kids express themselves through fashion.

In addition to showing interest in Angelina’s humanitarian efforts, Shiloh seems to have taken a few steps into the entertainment industry, spending time at L.A.’s Millennium Dance Complex.

On her 18th birthday in 2024, she submitted a petition at a Los Angeles Court to remove the hyphenated “Pitt” part of her surname to be known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. The legal name change was made official months later.

Debuting her baby bump at the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards, Angelina later gave birth to Knox and then his twin sister Vivienne in Nice, France, on July 12, 2008. Settling in at their Château Miraval, “It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time,” Angelina told People soon after, adding that Shiloh and Zahara liked to choose the twins’ clothes “and help change and hold them.”

Angelina pointed out that her son, Knox, who was named after Brad’s grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse, shared many similarities with Brad, both in personality and appearance. They looked remarkably alike when they attended the 2015 British motorcycle Grand Prix.

I’ve always loved seeing the kids get involved in their mom’s projects, and it was so cute when Knox, like his older siblings Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh, voiced a character – Ku Ku – in Kung Fu Panda 3 back in 2016! Apparently, they’re all a little shy and don’t necessarily dream of being actors, but Angelina Jolie didn’t want them to miss out on the experience, and she told ET they actually had a lot of fun with it. It was a sweet way for them to participate and create a little memory together.

Angelina described her twin brother, Knox, as being similar to their late mother, Marcheline Bertrand. She explained to TopMob News that Knox isn’t interested in being the center of attention, but instead focuses on supporting other artists. She also noted that he’s dedicated, thoughtful, and takes theatre very seriously, always striving to contribute his best work.

Despite a strong performance as a young Elle Fanning’s Aurora in the 2014 film Maleficent – Angelina Jolie was impressed with her ability to stay on cue – the actress has since focused on work that happens behind the camera.

Angelina shared that her daughter, Vivienne, inspired her to work on bringing the movie The Outsiders to Broadway. Vivienne then volunteered to help her mom, who was producing the Tony-winning show.

Angelina explained to People that her daughter, Vivienne, who is listed in the playbill as Vivienne Jolie, often keeps her on track. ‘She’ll point out if I’ve missed something and remind me of what we need to do,’ Jolie said. ‘She’s a very dedicated and serious assistant.’
