How Hannah Berner Really Feels About Being Fired From Summer House

When one Summer House door closes, another one opens.

That’s how Hannah Berner now sees her 2021 departure from the Bravo series, five years after leaving the show.

Looking back on why she left the show after season five, the 34-year-old explained on the June 8th episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that the issue was simply that ‘everyone needed to get along.’ She said there were conflicts and ultimately, leaving was a deliberate decision.

Hannah clashed strongly with original Summer House cast member Kyle Cooke, and the resulting conflict affected her relationships with the other housemates.

Hannah explained that she thought she was going to be let go, but realized the network’s decision was ultimately a good thing. She joked, ‘Getting fired just means you’re a star!’

The comedian went on, explaining that love and hate are closely related. After being fired from a reality TV show, they were told they were ‘too much,’ to which the comedian responded with a confident, ‘That’s amazing!’

Even though there was some drama in the past, Hannah—who started on the show in season three with her close friend Paige DeSorbo—said the experience taught her a lot and helped her advance her career.

I received a call letting me know I was fired from both Summer House and Chat Room, and my immediate thought was, ‘Time to create my own Netflix special!’ It really fueled a fire in me. I realized you have to be a bit of a risk-taker to perform night after night, almost needing that addictive drive. I actually thrive on being underestimated or excluded – it motivates me to come back even stronger. I love proving people wrong and turning setbacks into triumphs; it’s like rising from the ashes.

Five years later, Hannah is thriving. She’s a cohost on the incredibly popular podcast, Giggly Squad, and just released her second stand-up comedy special, None of My Business, which is now available on Hulu.

“No one in reality TV gets a Netflix special,” she reflected. “So, I was like, ‘Let’s f–king go.'”

Hannah, who married comedian Des Bishop in 2022, explained her approach by saying she never wanted to intentionally hurt anyone, and simply decided it was time to move forward.

Now that Hannah is enjoying the results of her hard work, she shared some encouragement for anyone feeling discouraged by setbacks on their path to achieving their goals.

Everyone faces challenges in life, no matter what,” the New Yorker explained. “Bad things happen daily, and it’s your reaction to them that truly matters.

Status: Together

After years of friendship, Amanda and West began sparking romance rumors in 2026, and they eventually confirmed their feelings had grown into something more. This came at a complicated time, as Amanda’s close friend, Ciara Miller, had previously dated West for several months before their difficult split in 2023.

In a statement released in March 2026, the pair shared that their recent relationship was a complete surprise to both of them. They explained that it developed from a close, long-term friendship, and they wanted to handle the situation with sensitivity and thoughtfulness.

Status: MarriedĀ

The show likely changed locations this season because comedians Hannah and Des jokingly had sex in Kyle and Amanda’s bathroom, but at least Hannah and Des are still a couple.

Let me tell you, after two wonderful years of dating, they finally made it official in 2022 with a gorgeous beach wedding! And honestly, what I love most about these two is how much fun they clearly have together – you can just feel the joy! As a lifestyle expert, I always say, a strong foundation of laughter is key to a lasting relationship, and they’ve got it in spades.

Oh my gosh, when Hannah talked about him after they got engaged in 2021, it just melted my heart! She said he lets her be herself, which, seriously, is everything! And they just laugh together, constantly! She said she makes him laugh, and he totally makes her laugh back. It’s just…the cutest! They clearly get each other, and it’s so amazing to see.

She explained that she was captivated by his way of thinking, deeply valued his guidance, and held him in high regard.

Status: Separated

Everyone who watched Summer House was hoping this couple would make it, but sadly, they announced their split in January 2026. They had been married for four years and together for almost ten.

Kyle shared that nothing could have truly prepared her for a public split, during a conversation with Bravo at 92NY, as reported by People. She emphasized that Amanda’s well-being is the most important thing, and she’s incredibly grateful for Amanda’s support, acknowledging how difficult the situation has been.

Although they haven’t divorced, Amanda revealed she was starting a relationship with West in March 2026.

Status: Broken UpĀ

West and Ciara have had a rocky relationship since they began dating in 2022, but it appears to be over for good. This follows West confirming a relationship with Ciara’s close friend, Amanda, in March 2026.

Although West and Ciara announced they were separating before the start of Summer House season 10 in February 2026, Ciara hinted that they might have tried to reconcile. In episode seven, she admitted there was still some “attraction” between them.

Status: Broken Up

After starting their relationship in 2021, this couple from Southern Charm and Summer House broke up in 2024.

In a 2024 episode of Giggly Squad, Paige shared her deep admiration for Craig, calling him one of the kindest and most wonderful people she’s ever known. She expressed unwavering support for his future, believing he deserves all the good things coming his way because of who he is.

She explained the breakup by saying it was the best choice for both of them, allowing them to pursue their individual paths without forcing anything that wasn’t meant to be.

Status: Broken upĀ

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of relationships, and this one is a real rollercoaster! They were the couple everyone was rooting for at one point – seriously, back in 2020, they seemed like #couplegoals. But then things got…complicated. Their on-again, off-again dynamic was incredibly captivating to watch, but it ultimately created so much drama and almost derailed everything the following summer. It’s wild to think how quickly things changed for them!

Luckily, Des reached out to Hannah through social media in 2020. Later, Luke briefly dated Ciara and then Tayshia Adams, but they broke up in 2025.

Status: Together

Both of the new cast members on season 10 began the summer of 2025 as singles looking for relationships, but they quickly became a couple and are still together now.

Status: Broken upĀ

Okay, so Carl Radke… honestly, the guy is a MESS. He just keeps making these terrible choices, and a lot of them happened when he was with one of the Wirkus sisters. It was SO obvious she wanted a real relationship, but he just wasn’t on that page. And let me tell you, you DO NOT want to get on the bad side of a Wirkus twin! They’re fiercely protective of each other, and seeing one hurt? Forget about it. It’s like dealing with two angry people at once!

Although the pair permanently split in 2018, Carl admitted he was entirely responsible for the breakup.

In 2019, Carl explained to The Daily Dish that he attributed his past behavior to his own immaturity. He also admitted he had difficulty expressing his feelings honestly with her, and struggled with communication in general.

Status: Friends

As someone who’s followed the Summer House scene for years, I have to give Lindsay and Everett credit. They were one of the original couples when the show started back in 2017, and honestly, it’s impressive they’ve stayed friends after everything they went through as a couple. It’s not easy navigating a breakup in the public eye, but they’ve managed to do it with a lot of grace.

Everett married Courtney Cavanagh in 2023, and surprisingly, his ex-wife Lindsay attended the wedding, which took place in Ireland. This showed they remain on good terms.

Status: FriendsĀ

Looking back at 2021, it was awkward to see how things unfolded between Ciara and Luke. Despite a short-lived romance, they eventually became friends—though their relationship was a little tense—and that’s how Ciara joined the cast of Summer House.

Ciara and West had a complicated relationship that lasted until 2026, when they finally ended things.

Status: Broken UpĀ

Paige and her boyfriend of a year mostly kept their relationship private in 2020, as he rarely appeared on camera. A year later, she started dating Craig Conover, but they eventually broke up in 2024.

Perry, meanwhile, appeared to have gotten engaged in 2023, according to his Instagram.Ā

Status: Broken Up

Though they initially showed a playful interest in each other at the start of Summer House, they remained friends until admitting their feelings at Kyle and Amanda’s wedding in 2021, which led to a fast-moving relationship.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! So, Carl and Lindsay finally moved in together in 2022, and then, then he proposed! I was seriously losing it with happiness. We all thought it was a dream come true, and they even picked a date for their wedding in 2023… but then, disaster struck. He just… called it off. I’m still reeling, honestly. It’s heartbreaking!

Lindsay said she was completely shocked when it happened. “He turned my life upside down,” she told US Weekly. “I was devastated and furious, and I had to heal and move forward on my own. But now I’m finally feeling good and ready to start a new chapter.”

Lindsay announced she was expecting a baby several months after ending her relationship. In 2024, she welcomed her daughter, Gemma, with her then-boyfriend, Tanner Kufe.

Status: Broken UpĀ

Everyone loved this couple on Summer House, and they seemed genuinely happy together. However, they broke up in 2023. At first, Danielle stated the split was friendly, but she changed her tune after seeing how quickly Robert started dating someone else.

Danielle revealed in 2023 to The Daily Dish that her ex is now with a coworker—someone she’d previously confronted him about during their breakup, and who he’d dismissed her concerns about as being ‘crazy.’ She added, jokingly, that her gut feeling was right all along.

Danielle has since gone public with new boyfriend, tech entrepreneur Eoin Heavey.

Status: Friends

Their relationship in 2018 was very short-lived, it’s hard to believe they were ever together. Although there was some drama at the time, they ended things amicably, and Carl was even upset when Paige left Summer House in 2025.

Carl shared with TopMob News that he loves Paige. He expressed sadness about her departure, but acknowledged she had a busy summer and understood her decision.

Status: Broken Up

It was clear from the start that Lindsay and Stravy wouldn’t last – she always seemed much more enthusiastic about the relationship than he was, even before he got around to making her that sandwich. Though they broke up in 2021 after roughly two years, fans of Summer House will always remember his memorable PowerPoint presentation from season five.
