The newest show on AMC is quickly becoming a hit, surpassing other streaming options in just its first two days back.
According to FlixPatrol, the new season of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, now called The Vampire Lestat, quickly became the most popular series on AMC+. It reached the number one spot just one day after premiering on June 7th. While the first two seasons of Interview with the Vampire are close behind, the Immortal Universe series have proven to be a hit, surpassing other shows on the streaming platform.
The new series is performing well internationally, ranking just below the original Interview With the Vampire, which remains a top performer. Another spin-off, Talamasca: The Secret Order, is currently in eighth place, with The Vampire Lestat: After Dark following closely behind.
AMC’s The Vampire Lestat Is a Hit for Only the Best Reasons
The new season introduces a vampire who has lived for centuries and unexpectedly becomes a famous rock star. The premiere episode was spectacular, delivering some of the most impressive scenes ever created for Anne Rice’s vampire world, and successfully recapturing the suspenseful, frightening atmosphere that made Interview with the Vampire so popular.
Currently, the series has a 94% average critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 31 reviews of the first episode. Interestingly, The Vampire Lestat also received a 94% audience score (“Popcornmeter”) on the same site, calculated from over 100 user reviews.
The first episode of The Vampire Lestat launched alongside a new companion show called The Vampire Lestat: After Dark, hosted by Lizzie Bassett. This show will give fans an inside look at each episode, with interviews from the cast and people who made the series.
What Else Is Coming Next for the Immortal Universe?
Fans of Anne Rice’s stories are excited for both new episodes of The Vampire Lestat and the return of The Mayfair Witches. While The Mayfair Witches is expected to premiere its third season sometime this year, a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
The upcoming season will explore the history and legends surrounding witchcraft in more detail, including stories from Salem, Massachusetts – famous for its witch trials. We’ll also meet new families with magical connections, and a significant new character named Michael, played by Michiel Huisman, who is a carpenter.
A new series called Night Island is in the works, inspired by a small part of Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. It follows two thieves who try to steal a valuable painting from a fancy estate on Night Island, unaware that the island is filled with supernatural creatures and powers.
You can now watch The Vampire Lestat on AMC+. New episodes are released every Sunday, with the final episode of the season airing on July 19th.
