
Fans are still waiting for news about Kingdom Hearts 4, the next game in the popular series from Square Enix. Although it was announced in 2022, details have been scarce. Recently, Square Enix shared a new update, giving us our first look at the game this year. The update includes a trailer showcasing Sora, the Heartless, and the new city environment.
The latest Nintendo Direct surprised everyone with a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4. While it didn’t reveal a release date for Sora’s next adventure, it did confirm the game will be available on the Switch 2 when the console launches – though we still don’t know exactly when that will be.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Resurfaces at June 2026 Nintendo Direct with New Trailer

Okay, so a lot of us were bummed not hearing anything about Kingdom Hearts 4 at Summer Game Fest, and it felt like we’d be waiting forever for updates. But Square Enix totally surprised us with a new trailer during the Nintendo Direct! And get this – they confirmed Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming to the Switch 2 on day one! That really solidifies the Switch 2 as a must-have for RPG players, honestly. Plus, the gameplay footage they showed today? It looks absolutely incredible. I’m super hyped!
Kingdom Hearts 3 was first released in 2019, and it took until 2022 for it to come to the Nintendo Switch. That’s why the announcement that the next game will be available on the new Switch 2 from day one is so thrilling! Unfortunately, we still don’t know when it will actually be released. While rumors point to a possible 2027 release, Square Enix hasn’t officially confirmed anything. Any news about Kingdom Hearts 4 is welcome at this point, and a new trailer just makes it even better.
