Miranda Lambert Reacts to Fan Backlash Over Morgan Wallen Tour

Miranda Lambert is not letting her critics give her a broken heart.

Approximately two weeks following her announcement about joining Morgan Wallen on his “I’m The Problem” tour, the singer of “Mama’s Broken Heart” addressed disgruntled comments from fans who were dissatisfied with this choice.

In a February 4 Instagram video, Miranda stated, “I’ve been going through the comments on the Morgan Wallen tour announcement – the comments on my own Instagram.

As she scrolled through her phone, the 41-year-old woman read a series of comments. One comment stated, “This isn’t what I expected, my friend,” and another person added, “I won’t be attending, as I was a huge Miranda fan before.

They went a step beyond their criticism, saying to Miranda, “You’re trying to hang on to what’s trendy just to remain in the spotlight.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that some critics have expressed strong feelings, with one individual stating quite emphatically, “I find myself deeply disillusioned by the two of you. I sincerely hope that you both seek forgiveness.

How did Miranda, who is wedded to Brendan McLoughlin, respond to the criticism? She handled it gracefully, responding playfully and dismissing it with a humorous message to her colleague.

“We’re really doing bad,” she joked, “on this press tour, Morgan.”

As she delved deeper into her reading, some comments seemed to lean slightly in favor of Miranda, yet others expressed perplexity over why she was accompanying Morgan on his tour instead of headlining her own. However, when a fan argued that the “Drunk” singer should be considered a main course rather than a side dish, she responded, “It’s not incorrect, but it’s not accurate.

After perusing the harsh remarks beneath her latest upload, the nation’s singer concluded the video by dispelling them with affection.

Miranda ended by expressing gratitude, but there was a hint of irony in her tone, “You’re really something, thanks for your help.

Regardless of opinions about her upcoming projects, the artist known for “Somethin’ Bad”—who has sparked debate among fans regarding her concerts in the past—recently pondered advice she would offer her younger self if granted the opportunity. While there was much she wished to share, a significant portion centered on pursuing passions and cherishing the journey.

Miranda expressed, during the Live From TopMob: People’s Choice Country Awards in September, that she would similarly advise, ‘Savor the journey.’ She admitted that she had been like a horse with blinders, focused solely on a goal for so long, and as a result, she believes she may have overlooked some moments along the way.

Apart from certain individuals on social platforms, she openly shared that it’s actually her fans who truly inspire her to continue creating music.

The singer from “Gunpowder & Lead” expressed gratitude, stating that it’s the fans who have enabled him to create countless cherished memories throughout his life and career. He considers them the most devoted supporters worldwide, and he is deeply grateful for their unwavering loyalty.

Recently, it seems like you’re preparing to depart, so anything you share won’t catch me off guard. You don’t need to make an effort to be genuine; simply continue your exit, leaving me behind. I’ll reassure my heart that it wasn’t shattered by you, and my mind that the blame lies with me. My eyes won’t shed a single tear as you depart.

It’s clear you’re planning to leave, so whatever you say now is expected. You don’t have to pretend to be sincere; just go on and leave. I’ll convince myself that it wasn’t your actions that broke my heart, and I was the one who made a mistake. My eyes won’t cry as you depart.

Ouch! However, Lambert seems a bit unsure about the thoughts behind her composition – other than perhaps sensing the end of a relationship yet to come – when she wrote the song that was on her 2001 self-titled independent debut album, before she became a contestant on Nashville Star. Remarkably, it turned out to be quite prophetic!

In 2020, she shared with the U.K.’s Songwriting magazine that many of her songs have resurfaced, one of them being “Leave Me Lyin’ Here”. This song was among her earliest compositions, featured on an indie CD she produced herself. Reflecting now, she can’t fathom how or from where she wrote it, as she hadn’t experienced much life at the time. It appears she drew inspiration from those around her since the song didn’t stem from her own experiences back then. Yet, as time passed, she was astonished that such a song emerged from her years ago, as it resonates so strongly with her now.

As sweet as a tender kiss and as keen as a sharp knife,

You emerge when I’m nearly at my lowest point.

It’s not easy to comprehend the effort that goes into it,

The struggle to break free from a love that deep down, I always sensed was misguided.

In one of the tracks on my groundbreaking 2005 album, “Kerosene,” I subtly suggest a recurring struggle I face in keeping distance from men who might not be the best choices for me. This isn’t a new issue that I’ve only recently encountered.

Meanwhile, the full album came out that March, and she would meet Blake Shelton a few months later.

It seems as though those flowers in the vase have lost their vibrancy. He brought them home casually one day, remarking how lovely they were. However, they’ve been sitting in our kitchen for a while, and the water has turned gray. Now, unfortunately, the flowers are no longer alive.

In this 2009 song, which was the lead single from her fourth studio album titled “Revolution,” the symbolism of a wilting relationship is abundant. At that time, she was contentedly settled with her future husband Shelton, who was then just her long-term boyfriend, but Lambert revealed it was motivated by real Valentine’s Day flowers that had died in her past.

In a post on her site, Lambert expressed that the song was written from the perspective of a sour love experience. However, a young lady shared with her mother that the lyrics resonated deeply with her feelings when her father abandoned her. This personal interpretation of the song touched Lambert greatly and offered a fresh perspective.

“I kept him close by all the time, I’m content with the scars – Joy isn’t confinement, yet there’s liberation found within a mended spirit.

In the aftermath of my separation with Shelton the previous year, I poured my raw emotions into the first track of my 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings. It served as a window into my lingering heartache for everyone to witness.

Because as the band Nazareth said, “Love hurts, love scars, love wounds and marks.”

1. “I may not be able to cast a fishing line, but I can certainly bring it back in.”

2. “I might struggle to throw a dart, but I can surely make it land.”

3. “The idea of loving you only brings on feelings of nausea.”

4. “I don’t have the courage to employ my emotions.”

In simpler terms, Lambert openly discussed how her 2016 double album, “The Weight of These Wings“, served as a post-divorce confession. However, given that she had already met musician Anderson East by the end of 2015, it’s likely that the worry about getting hurt again wasn’t too distant from her thoughts.

I don’t make excuses for my imperfect life / I carry my sorrow as a keepsake / I drown my troubles with alcohol, it helps me cope with this shattered heart / Who cares if I find solace within these walls?

In 2017, Lambert openly shared during a private event at Joe’s Bar in Chicago that her inspiration for writing songs came from personal experiences. Specifically, she mentioned that following her divorce, she began drinking more. One night, she found herself repeatedly visiting Midtown Nashville until the bars closed. As the lights came on and everyone else left, she wrote a song about this very experience.

As her faithful companion, I ensure that her engine is always running. She serves as my fuel, my motivation. Yet, she handles my heart with care, as if it were a stolen vehicle she could easily escape with. Even when she places herself in danger, I promise to stand by her side, ready to be her getaway driver whenever needed.

As an ardent devotee, I can’t help but revel in the knowledge that East collaborated on this masterpiece from “The Weight of These Wings” with none other than Lambert and the esteemed country ballad maven, Natalie Hemby. It’s as if I’ve stumbled upon the secret map guiding Miranda out of her tumultuous times, and now I understand how she managed to break free from her descent.

As for myself, I prefer to maintain a distance and not shoulder any burden of unseen pain you may carry, because I was once shattered by someone.

East proved equal to the task, managing it effectively for the span of more than two years during our partnership.

I once had a lover whom I deeply cherished, but he seemed to have friendly relationships with some questionable women. Now, I’ve reverted my name back to its original form, and I no longer want to be referred to as a Mrs. on official documents.

In a behind-the-scenes video from 2018, Lambert explained that this Pistol Annies song serves as a means for me to regain my humor after experiencing deep sadness. Essentially, it’s about embracing and rejoicing in the process of reclaiming a part of myself.

In addition, she playfully informed The Tennessean that year that being in a trio had its advantages since they could share scandalous anecdotes and then blame one another by raising the “it wasn’t my story!” finger.

I’m as free-spirited as a wild child and just as guided as a homing pigeon, finding my way through life like a caravan wandering the desert, yet also standing still in an empty kitchen. I walk barefoot on cool tiles with my mind drifting among the clouds above me. My heart beats in two directions at once – loving deeply while questioning whether I’m settling or finding my place.

There’s nothing mysterious about the source of inspiration for this song from the 2019 album “Wildcard”, which was later released as a single. This is particularly clear when Brendan McLoughlin, who became her first real-life co-star in one of her videos, entered the picture. (She jokingly commented to ET Canada in 2020 that she needed a video and he was there, so it just worked out.)

Simultaneously, the song “Settling Down” represents a heartfelt introspection by her about whether pursuing another long-term relationship is suitable for her. The idea for this track originated from a discussion she had with her tour bus driver during a challenging period in their lives. As she shared with Billboard in 2020, they both were going through personal struggles. They concluded that settling down doesn’t always mean giving up on excitement or independence; instead, it might provide more freedom and opportunities for joy by having someone to share these experiences with.

“The ink’s needle requires no second thought; it’s a permanent fixture, touchwood / You’ll never leave me, forever bonded, let’s hope for the best / Deep within my heart, I care not for the rest, we’re spot-on perfect / Edgy and reckless, taking risks, teetering on the brink of madness

Something that quickens the pulse, yet in a positive sense, since she was once more invigorated by the fresh affection blooming in her existence.

Two years ago, Lambert admitted to the Songwriting magazine that his recent work draws from a new source because he’s in a better place in his life now. Being a bit happier and emerging from a difficult period allowed him to approach songwriting sessions with a different mindset than before.
