Great fantasy worlds become popular for a reason, and those that truly stand out deserve to be adapted for the screen. We’ve seen successful adaptations of franchises like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and The Chronicles of Narnia, and even other beloved series like Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea, Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, and Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time have made it to the screen, though not always perfectly. That’s why it’s frustrating that Steven Erikson’s Malazan Empire hasn’t yet received the same treatment.

As we shared before, the test will be available on PlayStation 5, computers, iPhones, and Android phones. It will support several languages – English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Russian – and include voice-overs in English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. The test will let you play through the story up to the episode called “Deal? Deal!”

Many popular anime series are still being made, like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Spy x Family, and The Apothecary Diaries, so it’s too early to judge whether they’ll have satisfying conclusions. Most acclaimed endings come from shows with only one short story (Cowboy Bebop, Odd Taxi) or a single, unbroken run (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood). It’s rare for a long-running series, with breaks between seasons, to finish strongly.
