Pokemon Go Developer Is Reportedly Working on a New Marvel Game (& You Could Play Early)

Niantic’s Pokemon Go has remained popular for a remarkably long time. When Scopely bought Niantic’s game studio, including Pokemon Go, many players worried about the future. However, most have been happy with the changes Scopely has made. Now, Scopely is planning to add another big game to its collection: Project Comet, a Marvel action role-playing game. This isn’t the first time Scopely has worked with Marvel, as they also created Marvel Strike Force.

On June 2nd, a new Twitter account for an unannounced game called Project Comet emerged. According to the @ProjectCometCBT account’s bio, Project Comet is an “unannounced Marvel game in early development on iOS and Android.” Shortly after this account made its first and only post, reputable Marvel gaming insider Miller Ross revealed that the project comes from Scopely, the new owner of Pokemon Go. On June 9th, invites to the game’s closed beta test began rolling out to those who applied last week. So from the sounds of it, we do indeed have a new mobile Marvel RPG to look forward to.

New Marvel Game from Scopely Reportedly in the Works

Reddit users following Marvel news have noticed a potential new game, codenamed ‘Project Comet,’ has been quietly looking for beta testers for several weeks. Initially, many doubted the invites because the game hadn’t been officially announced. However, with the recent launch of an official X (formerly Twitter) account for the project, it seems increasingly likely that the game is real. Reports suggest some people are already testing it, and more invites are expected to go out on June 9th.

Project Comet recently posted on social media looking for people to test a new, unreleased Marvel role-playing game, and the official MarvelGames account shared the post. This confirms the game is likely real. While Project Comet didn’t mention who’s developing the game, reliable insider Miller Ross reports it’s a new mobile title from Scopely.

It looks like Scopely is still accepting applications for beta testers of their new Marvel mobile RPG. If you’re interested in getting a sneak peek, you can still apply! Just keep in mind that participants will likely need to sign non-disclosure agreements, so details about the game probably won’t be shared publicly even during the playtest.

Currently, details about the game are scarce. We know it’s a Marvel action RPG for mobile devices, and it’s being playtested now. It’s also a Scopely game, according to Miller Ross.
