As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the Pokemon universe, this news about Pokemon Unite leaving Belgium and the Netherlands is truly heart-wrenching. It feels like a part of my gaming family is being torn away. I’ve grown attached to the game, the characters, and the community, and it’s hard to imagine saying goodbye.
The popular game “Pokemon Unite” has been a mainstay for over three years, however, its reach is set to shrink in the upcoming months. The Pokemon Company and TiMi Studio Group have declared that the service will be discontinued in two European regions: Belgium and the Netherlands. As of November 30th, the game will no longer be accessible on Nintendo Switch or mobile devices in these regions. While fans can continue playing “Pokemon Unite” in those regions until December 31st, in-game purchases will cease on October 31st.
Starting on November 30, 2025, I’ll unfortunately have to bid farewell to Pokémon UNITE in Belgium and the Netherlands as the service will be discontinued. After that date, you won’t be able to download the app on your mobile devices or Nintendo Switch anymore. As a heads up, from October 31, 2024, no more in-game items like Aeos Gems and Subscriptions will be available for purchase. To make the most of your gaming experience, I recommend using all your in-game items before November 30, 2025.
Currently, there’s no given explanation for why Pokemon Unite is being withdrawn in certain areas. Many players are guessing it might be due to stricter regulations on loot boxes, as many countries have been intensifying their scrutiny of gacha systems and loot boxes recently. If this is the cause, some supporters suggest that these features should be eliminated from Pokemon Unite, instead of pulling the game entirely.
Good news for Pokemon Unite fans across North America and other parts of the world: There appears to be no immediate intention to cease supporting the game. In fact, two new characters are on their way – Darkrai, who’ll join the team on October 17th, and Psyduck, slated for November (exact date TBA). While we don’t have details beyond November at this point, here’s hoping that the game will enjoy continued support in the long term!
