Poldark favourite says The Fortune finale was a “page turner” – but she did help change ending for one big reason

Okay, so I’m already hooked on this new drama, ‘The Fortune.’ If you’re anything like me and love a good mystery, you’ll probably dig it too. It seems like Amanda, played by Eleanor Tomlinson, is suddenly thrown into this crazy situation with a weird inheritance, and the whole thing is a real puzzle she’s trying to figure out. Based on the channel’s other shows, I’m expecting a seriously gripping story!

One day, while working at the café, she’s surprised by a visit from a lawyer who reveals some incredible news: a wealthy businessman named Martin (Denis Lawson) has passed away and left everything he owned to her, setting off a chain of unexpected events.

When a woman receives a large sum of money from a mysterious man, her life is quickly turned upside down. As she tries to understand who he is and why she was chosen, things take a troubling turn, bringing her into conflict with his resentful wife (Rebecca Front) and son (Callum Woodhouse).

As a big fan of psychological thrillers, I’m completely hooked on this show! Every episode is packed with twists and turns, and honestly, each one ends on such a cliffhanger that you’re immediately desperate to see what happens next. Everyone’s saying the finale is going to be totally unpredictable, and I, for one, can’t wait – but I have no idea what to expect!

When TopMob asked if she knew how the series would end, star Tomlinson said she didn’t, and that’s what she enjoyed about the script – it kept her guessing until the very end.

Honestly, I really didn’t love one of the endings they had planned. I actually talked to both the writer and the director about it because it just didn’t feel true to my character, Amanda. Thankfully, they were open to my input, and I was able to help shape it into something that felt right. I really appreciated being able to contribute and it was a fascinating process.

Throughout the show, I was given a lot of freedom to shape my character, Amanda, including her mannerisms and speech. I really got to make her my own.

Working with that team was an incredibly creative and rewarding experience, and it was exciting to see the project come to life. I genuinely didn’t know how it would all end, which I think makes for a more engaging story, and I hope that feeling translates to the show.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the final part of the story. The cast includes Matthew Lewis, known for his role in Harry Potter, Callum Woodhouse from All Creatures Great and Small, and Nina Wadia, formerly of EastEnders, alongside Tomlinson.

Let me tell you, the supporting cast is fantastic. We’ve got Rebecca Front, who I always love from ‘The Thick of It,’ alongside Stephen Tompkinson, best known as DCI Banks. Paula Wilcox, so charming in ‘Trying,’ also pops up, as does Danielle Walters, who I remember from ‘Chewing Gum.’ And a real treat – Denis Lawson, a familiar face from ‘Bleak House,’ rounds out this incredibly talented group.
