The new season, featuring Belinda Chandra alongside Varada Sethu, will kick off with “The Robot Revolution,” followed by an episode titled “Lux” that includes Alan Cumming as Mr Ring-a-Ding. The third episode is called “The Well,” and it stars Rose Ayling-Ellis as Aliss Fenly.

In the course of preparing an episode synopsis for Doctor Who Magazine, Russell T Davies has disclosed that the storyline titled “The Robot Revolution” takes place seventeen years subsequent to when Belinda’s former partner dedicated a star in her honor as a present.

Today, the robots inhabiting the planet revolving around that star announce their queen as none other than Davies. They journey from London, forcibly taking her aboard their spaceship to transport her back ‘home’.

Davies stated, “They truly believe she’s their queen, which is just absurd! It’s not enough to anger the robots, we need to enrage the AI Generator as well! The most unbelievable part is that the AI Generator wants to wed her! Poor Belinda.

He commented: “We’re delving into the topic of AI, considering if it functions effectively, if it benefits or endangers us. Now seems like an opportune time for Doctor Who to ponder upon this matter.

Excitement is building for episode 2 on Lux, as fans can’t wait to see the Doctor and Belinda in their animated forms, as hinted at in the latest sneak peek!

In the year 1952, Miami serves as the backdrop for an investigation led by The Doctor and Belinda regarding the mysterious vanishing of fifteen individuals. During their probe, they cross paths with a man named Mr. Ring-a-Ding, who appears to be more enigmatic than his name suggests.

Davies expressed the hope that children will both enjoy Mr Ring-a-Ding and find him unsettling. In a sense, it’s a feeling of apprehension: when the character on screen turns towards you, you realize they can see you watching them. There’s an exhilarating sensation in that moment.

Next, we have “The Well,” where Dr. and Belinda find themselves marooned on an unfriendly planet while exploring a mining facility. It’s there that they start to suspect things are not as they seem.

In their own words, Writer Sharma Angel-Walfall explained the tone of the episode: “During our initial discussion, Russell had already read one of my scripts. This script was a supernatural horror story designed for a younger audience, indicating that I have a knack for such themes.

In a more casual and engaging style: “I enjoy crafting stories that leave readers guessing and create a sense of ‘Wow, what’s coming up next?’ with an exciting and suspenseful vibe. That’s the type of mood we aim to set in this episode.

As a captivated movie connoisseur, I can’t help but share my excitement over the tantalizing sneak peek of the upcoming season, graciously presented by BBC. This riveting trailer promises to bring back beloved characters such as Anita Dobson, our beloved Mrs. Flood, and Millie Gibson, who embodies Ruby Sunday so brilliantly. Additionally, we’ll welcome fresh talent to the screen, including Christopher Chung and Kadiff Kirwan. The anticipation is palpable!
