Steven Spielberg Reveals If His Wife & Kids Believe in Aliens

Steven Spielberg is disclosing his thoughts on worlds beyond our own.

The Academy Award-winning director recently discussed whether his wife, Kate Capshaw, and their large family of seven children share his interest in the possibility of alien life.

Speaking at the New York City premiere of Disclosure Day on June 8th, Steven Spielberg told TopMob News that he’s thought about the topic quite a bit, more so than his wife, he believes. He also shared that his children have considered it deeply and are accepting of others’ experiences.

He added that people generally trust those who express strong conviction. Kate shares this trust, and he believes they’ll ultimately be proven right.

Despite being a father to seven children – Max, Theo, Sasha, Sawyer, Mikaela, and Destry Spielberg, and a stepdad to Jessica Capshaw – the 79-year-old isn’t currently thinking about potential contact with aliens. He’s actually seen enough of that in movies!

He admitted he doesn’t dwell on what it would be like to encounter aliens firsthand, because he’s already explored the idea many times through film. He cited movies like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., and his latest, Disclosure Day, as examples. He also co-produced the Men in Black series and directed War of the Worlds.

He added, “So this is a playground I really enjoy working within.”

Steven Spielberg shared that his late father, Arnold Spielberg, also believed in aliens, in addition to his wife and children.

He explained that he’s always believed in extraterrestrial life, ever since he was a child. His father, a big science fiction fan, instilled that belief in him, and he’s held onto it ever since.

Like many others, I’ve been shaped by documentaries and films, and by hearing stories of unexplained nighttime sightings. People often describe these things as massive, unidentifiable objects, sometimes covered in lights, that seemed to fly overhead. They just couldn’t explain what they saw.

As a longtime enthusiast, I’ve always been fascinated by how he pointed out that aliens have moved beyond just being the stuff of late-night stories and wild theories. They’ve really broken into mainstream culture, even inspiring some amazing sci-fi films!

Spielberg confessed that it felt increasingly genuine. As he’s gotten older, he’s begun to believe there’s something happening that’s being kept secret from us.

The new movie Disclosure Day, featuring Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, Josh O’Connor, and others, will be released in theaters on June 12th.

The one where Courteney Cox shares a ghost story.

 

The Friends actress shared with Howard Stern that a delivery person rang her bell and let her know someone unexpected had arrived.

 

Courteney recounted a chilling experience she had after answering the door for a delivery. The person handed her the package and then casually said, ‘Do you know this house is haunted?’ She immediately asked why, and he pointed out someone standing behind her, which startled her.

This wasn’t the only spooky thing that happened to her. Courteney also remembered being scared while in London. She had just arrived and was jet-lagged but couldn’t sleep. While trying to drift off, she started seeing frightening, old faces. She told herself to stop, but the visions continued, and she began to think she was seeing family members. Then, she noticed lights flickering and a plant moving on its own.

She woke up her partner, Johnny McDaid, telling him she was seeing spirits. He also seemed to be experiencing something, with waves around him, but insisted she was still asleep. He claimed there were no ghosts, even though she was certain she saw them.

Finally, Courteney asked the spirits to leave. ‘Thanks for visiting last night,’ she said. ‘It was fun, but please don’t come back tonight because I need to sleep.’ And, thankfully, she didn’t see them again.

The Kardashians star wasn’t interested in keeping up with this eerie experience.

 

Khloe shared that she and her daughter, True Thompson, were bothered by what she thinks was the ghost of a young girl while they were living in a rented house.

 

Khloe described a frightening experience on her podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land, recalling that a ghostly figure touched her hair. She said, ‘She rubbed my hair—she did,’ and added that she hasn’t been able to sleep in the dark since.

 

I was asleep at the rental house in the Oaks. There’s a hallway connecting True’s room to mine, and she was still in her crib – she never climbed out. I heard someone walking, so I called out, ‘True?’ I checked the baby monitor and she was still asleep, which was strange. I just laid back down and closed my eyes; it was the middle of the night.

 

Khloe said she could feel a small hand on her face whiel she was in her bed.

 

She recalled closing her eyes and desperately hoping she wouldn’t see anything frightening. When she opened them, the space was empty, which actually terrified her even more.

Demi Lovato believes her childhood home in Texas is haunted. She remembers a time when, as a little girl, her mother found her talking to someone she couldn’t see – a girl named Emily in a picture frame. Her younger sister later had a similar experience, claiming to talk to a girl living in the closet.

Demi also recalls predicting strange events to her friends. She’d tell them something would happen, and they’d often witness odd occurrences, like one friend receiving multiple, unsolicited replies of “definitely” after texting that the house felt haunted. The friend insisted he hadn’t sent multiple messages.

Demi shared another story with Ellen DeGeneres about a balloon floating down the stairs and turning a corner, something she found particularly unsettling. These experiences have convinced her that her childhood home is genuinely haunted.

Joey King experienced a strange and scary health issue while filming The Conjuring as a child. She began developing unexplained bruises on her body, even in unusual places like her stomach and chest. The makeup artists initially thought she was playing a prank with the fake bruises used for the possessed mother’s scenes. However, Joey insisted the bruises were real.

A doctor eventually diagnosed her with ITP, a rare blood-thinning condition where her red platelet count dropped mysteriously. She had never had any blood issues before and hasn’t since. During filming, she had to visit the hospital twice a day. Remarkably, when she returned home, her platelet levels were normal and the condition never returned.

Okay, so you HAVE to hear this! I’m seriously obsessed with Ariana Grande, and she told this story about something TERRIFYING that happened to her in Kansas City back in 2013. She was talking to Complex about it, and it gives me chills just thinking about it. Apparently, after staying in a haunted castle, she and her friends decided to visit Stull Cemetery – which, get this, is supposed to be one of the seven gates to hell! Can you even imagine?!

She said the whole car felt this awful, heavy negativity, and they even smelled sulfur – which is like, a sign of a DEMON! And there was this random fly buzzing around inside the car, another bad sign. She was totally freaked out and immediately wanted to leave. She even rolled down the window to apologize to whatever was there, saying they didn’t mean to disturb it. Then she took a picture, and when she looked at it, there were THREE clear faces in the photo…faces of actual, textbook demons!

And the craziest part? She tried to send the picture to her manager, and the file size was 666 MEGABYTES! Seriously?! She deleted it right away. But that’s not all! She also told Complex about seeing this huge black cloud next to her bed one night. She started crying and called someone for help, and they told her to tell it to ‘eff off’ but she was scared that would make it worse, so she just tried to ignore it. She said it wanted to feed on her fear! She watched it move to the front of her bed, and then she actually fell asleep while still on the phone! When she woke up, it was gone. I’m telling you, this girl has seen some SERIOUS stuff!

Octavia Spencer says she’s perfectly comfortable sharing her home with a ghost. She explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she bought a house previously owned by a Western film actor she admired. She believes his spirit now protects her, getting rid of unwanted visitors. According to Spencer, people who don’t belong in her home feel unwelcome and don’t return, while those who do feel comfortable and enjoy the atmosphere. Although her ghost can be a little mischievous – randomly closing doors or turning off lights when she’s away – Spencer is clear that it’s her ghost and she doesn’t want any others joining him. She’s happy with her spectral companion, but insists he’s off-limits to new ghostly friends and respects her boundaries.

Jennifer Aniston had a spooky experience in a house she used to own in Los Angeles. She told James Corden that appliances would randomly turn on – the dishwasher, coffee maker, and stereo would blast at full volume – and it was really frightening.

She eventually hired a specialist to get rid of the ghost. The specialist used frankincense, but as soon as she started the process, a dish cracked. Then, a heavy ashtray from the 1970s also broke!

The specialist asked Jennifer to leave so she could communicate with the spirit. Surprisingly, the ghost’s issue wasn’t with Jennifer – it didn’t like her roommate. Jennifer kept this to herself and moved out, not wanting to tell her roommate that a ghost disliked her. She still feels bad about not saying anything.

Miley Cyrus has a spooky story about a possible haunting in her home. She received Elvis memorabilia from a friend whose parent had passed away. After a fire destroyed the memorabilia in 2018, Miley began to experience strange occurrences. She believes the friend’s late mother started visiting her, appearing as a ghostly presence. Miley described smelling cigarette smoke – the woman had been a smoker – and her dogs reacting wildly in the guest room where a photo of the late mother had been displayed. She even claimed to have seen a figure resembling the woman sitting on her couch, playfully teasing her dogs, a behavior Miley said the woman would have enjoyed. These experiences led Miley to believe the fire somehow ‘released’ the spirit, and she eventually removed the photo.

Keanu Reeves has a spooky story to tell! The actor once shared a strange experience he had as a young child in his family’s New York apartment. When he was around 6 or 7 years old, he saw what appeared to be just a jacket waving back and forth in a doorway—with no body or head attached. He recounted the story on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying he found it simply “interesting.” However, his nanny was terrified! Reeves remembers looking over to see her jaw drop, realizing the experience wasn’t just his imagination.

Vanessa Hudgens isn’t trying to get rid of any ghosts or spirits. In fact, she seems to welcome her ability to connect with the unseen. She explained on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022 that she’s always been able to see and hear things that others don’t.

One memorable experience happened when she was eight years old with a toy duck. She remembers it moving along beside her as she walked, even though no one was pushing it.

Now, Vanessa is actively exploring this ability. She admits she used to be scared of it, saying the unknown can be frightening. But she’s now embracing it as a gift and recently participated in her first official paranormal investigation, complete with equipment.

Actor Hugh Grant shared a spooky story about his son. Back in 2016, he noticed his son would often stare at a corner of his room. Other people, including family and nannies, began to see something there as well, asking who the little boy in the corner was.

Grant, a father of five, decided to take action despite considering himself a rational person. He actually called a ghostbuster! The ghostbuster came to his house with some rods, which apparently went crazy in his son’s room. She claimed the energy was very strong and even felt sick. She then burned sage, played an instrument, and sang to supposedly banish the spirits.

However, the haunting didn’t seem to stop. The next morning, Grant asked his son if he felt better, and the boy said there was still a little boy at his window. Grant joked that they needed to move, as the house was clearly haunted.

 

Brian Cox had a chilling experience a few years ago in Edinburgh that he recently shared on The Jonathan Ross Show. He was trying to fall asleep when he heard a rocking sound. To his surprise, a chair began to rock back and forth, eventually sliding across the room towards his bed.

Though the chair eventually stopped, Cox was understandably frightened. He quickly hid under the covers, thinking the situation was terrifying.

He did manage to get some sleep, but was shocked again the next morning to find the chair still there and the floor covered in scratch marks.
