Streets of Rogue 2 Early Access Delayed Again, Free Demo Now Available

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but admire Matt Dabrowski’s dedication to crafting a polished masterpiece in “Streets of Rogue 2“. His transparency about the delay and his commitment to delivering a high-quality product are commendable.

Matt Dabrowski’s “Streets of Rogue 2”, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular sandbox RPG, is now available as a free demo on PC during Steam Next Fest. However, the early access launch has been postponed once more, with the new release date set for an unspecified time in the near future, beyond October 22nd.

As a gamer eagerly waiting for the upcoming release, let me assure you that Dabrowski isn’t planning for an extended wait. He mentioned that he’ll announce the official launch date soon. The hold-up comes from various factors, such as the game’s expansive, open-ended design and being the sole programmer on the project. Initially, a release in October seemed possible back in July, but after much consideration and my best attempts to expedite things, I realized the game needed a little more baking time to ensure it’s perfect for you all!

I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience caused by the delays. I realize how frustrating it can be when you eagerly await something, only for it to slip through your fingers. To avoid setting expectations that might not be met, we won’t disclose any more precise release dates until everything is absolutely confirmed. However, I assure you that the game is almost ready for early access, as its fundamental structures are strong and stable.

Regarding the earlier mentioned playtest, it’s been replaced with a demo that offers the same intended content. This demo is an early version, often referred to as an “alpha build,” which implies some elements might not be included in the final product. The demo initiates on an island separated from the mainland, and players are tasked with either defeating or gaining the favor of the Mayor.

Absolutely, just like the initial version, players have the freedom to approach this game however they prefer. The game features several character classes, and while the world layout is randomized, some island traits remain consistent. Unfortunately, controller compatibility isn’t available yet, but fear not! It’s on its way, so keep an eye out for future announcements.
