Thanos Gets MCU-Inspired Redesign in the Marvel Comics

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the intricate tapestry of the Marvel Universe, I must say that the latest developments are nothing short of exhilarating! The seamless integration between the comics and movies is reminiscent of an expertly crafted RPG mod, where every decision, no matter how small, has far-reaching consequences.

In essence, Thanos might say: The Marvel Comics World and the Marvel Movie Universe are perfectly harmonious, just as they should be. With Kevin Feige holding dual roles as Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer and president of Marvel Studios, there has been a stronger connection between the comics and films. Nick Fury, modeled after Samuel L. Jackson from 2002’s The Ultimates, influenced Jackson’s casting as the character in 2008’s Iron Man. This led to the appearance of Nick Fury Jr., who resembles his Ultimate/MCU counterpart, on Earth-616 alongside Agent Phil Coulson, a beloved character played by Clark Gregg in films such as The Avengers and Captain Marvel.

There are more examples: the retconned origins of twins Pietro and Wanda Maximoff as human mutates rather than the mutant children of Magneto after Avengers: Age of Ultron; an aged-down Agatha Harkness whose more youthful appearance resembles Kathryn Hahn’s centuries-old witch in WandaVision and Agatha All Along; and a new Avengers team that aligns with recently elevated characters like Photon (The Marvels), Shang-Chi (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Simon Williams (Wonder Man), and She-Hulk (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law).

In his latest appearances in “Thanos Annual” #1 and “Incredible Hulk” Annual #1, Thanos has been seen wearing the iconic blue and gold armor suit that he donned during the 1990s comic book crossovers, such as “Infinity Gauntlet,” “Infinity War,” and “Infinity Crusade.” These stories served as a basis for the 2018 film “Avengers: Infinity War” and its sequel “Avengers: Endgame.
