This film will mark the exciting conclusion to the Multiverse Saga and the return of directors Joe and Anthony Russo to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been four years since Avengers: Endgame, and the franchise has evolved significantly. However, Marvel’s marketing approach for Avengers: Doomsday seems similar to the strategy they used during the Infinity Saga – they haven’t released a full trailer yet.

Marvel has given fans a sneak peek at the upcoming film, including Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers and the first look at characters from the X-Men now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While a trailer was shown at CinemaCon 2026 in April, it hasn’t been released to the public yet, leading to a lot of speculation online about when it will be. Marvel Studios Has Several Release Options For Avengers: Doomsday’s Trailer

The ideal launch point right now is San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The franchise already has a confirmed panel scheduled for July 23-27, 2026. Given how important SDCC has been for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, releasing the Avengers: Doomsday trailer there would generate huge excitement, particularly if Marvel brings out major stars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. It would be smarter to promote both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in Hall H, rather than revealing long-term plans beyond the current Multiverse Saga, which is their usual approach at these events.

The fact that a teaser for Steve Rogers’ Avengers: Doomsday was shown before Avatar: Fire and Ash suggests Marvel Studios might connect its trailers to other major Disney releases. The Mandalorian & Grogu would have been a natural fit, given it’s also a Disney-owned Star Wars property, but that didn’t happen. Looking ahead to Disney’s summer movies, Toy Story 5 comes out June 19th and Moana (live-action) on July 10th. However, neither of those films seems like the right place to debut the Avengers: Doomsday trailer. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing July 31st, is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s actually a Sony production.

One of the most daring options Marvel Studios has is to simply release the film online on a random date. They’ve done something similar with trailers before – the trailers for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were released with little promotion. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a different place now than it was at the end of the Infinity Saga. The Multiverse Saga has faced challenges, and that’s hurt the franchise’s reputation. Because audiences aren’t as excited about Marvel as they used to be, a low-key online release could be a gamble.

Why Marvel Studios Can Withhold Avengers: Doomsday Trailer This Long

Look, it’s not totally unusual for Marvel to hold back on trailers for a while, but this is different. When Endgame was coming out, they dropped the first trailer about four and a half months beforehand – and that was when Marvel was on top of the world! Everyone was already hyped. Now, things are a little tougher. After a few releases that didn’t quite hit the mark in this new Multiverse Saga – even Robert Downey Jr. has acknowledged that – Marvel seems to be working harder to regain our trust, and maybe a delayed trailer is part of that strategy.

The positive reaction to the Avengers: Doomsday trailer at CinemaCon 2026 has given Marvel some much-needed relief. Because public opinion is improving, they don’t need to rush releasing the trailer. While the five-hour casting video in 2025 was a bold move, given how long fans have waited, Disney should probably release the trailer soon.

Avengers: Doomsday will hit cinemas on December 18, 2026.
