Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, published by Shueisha, hosts some of the world’s favorite manga series, with One Piece by Eiichiro Oda being one of the standouts. This pirate-themed story has captured the hearts of fans worldwide, earning it the title of best-selling manga ever made. Throughout its history, Weekly Shonen Jump has seen numerous series come and go. Yet, One Piece stands out as one of their longest-running serializations that continues to this day. The manga entered its final saga in July 2022, and since then, it’s created quite a stir. However, the Elbaf Arc has proven to be the most surprising, following Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation.
In Chapter 1138, a significant reveal left fans buzzing and brainstorming theories throughout the entire week. Last week saw the publication of Shonen Jump’s Issue 16, which included a page replicating the double-spread from Chapter 1138 in its preview section. Franky is depicted on this page, mirroring his reaction when he first laid eyes on the mural. The page showcases characters from various WSJ series while also offering glimpses into upcoming chapters. Shonen Jump’s Issue 17 is slated for release on March 24th, 2025.

Why Is This Mural Important in One Piece?
In Chapter 1138, Franky embarks on a tour around the Jewel Tree Adam, which is found in Elbaf – the realm of the Giants. This ancient, colossal tree is said to be the oldest one globally and covers much of the massive island with its sprawling branches. It serves as the lifeblood of the kingdom and was first introduced in Chapter 431, just two days following the Enies Lobby Incident.
Franky intends to construct a robust vessel for Luffy’s team using timber from a tree renowned as the strongest in existence worldwide. The legendary ship of Gol D. Roger, Oro Jackson, was also crafted from this material and endured harsh oceanic conditions. Since it’s extremely scarce, Franky has never encountered one personally, and he’s excited to discover what sets it apart. Yet, even he wasn’t prepared for the enormous mural he unexpectedly stumbled upon.
This scene portrays various races banding together to battle a common foe, which Ripley suggests might have originated from a child’s imagination as such an event has never been documented historically. However, what many people are unaware of is that this depiction is actually accurate history, representing the three different worlds. The first two worlds were consumed by war, while the third one seems to be heading towards its destruction.
In this present time, it’s likely the third instance where Nika appears. There are numerous hidden references, or “easter eggs,” scattered throughout the mural. Luffy’s activation of his devil fruit suggests a significant transformation is imminent for the world, and it seems that the “Sun God” will be at the heart of all the turmoil.
