In February, we’ve arrived! Though January might have had more releases, there are some significant titles coming up this month that are worth getting excited about. Role-playing game enthusiasts, get ready – not just one, not two, but four major games are on the horizon, offering plenty of gaming hours. Additionally, a new sports title (it’s not the one you might be expecting), an eagerly awaited indie rhythm game, and an unexpected remaster compilation are also in store. So, let’s dive right in! Here are the top 10 games to anticipate in February 2025.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Among this year’s most anticipated titles, “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” significantly builds upon its predecessor in all aspects. Battle sequences have been enhanced through the introduction of fresh ranged weapons and combat maneuvers. Instead of one map, players can now traverse two vast landscapes, with the colossal city of Kuttenberg being one of them. The game world exhibits a greater level of dynamism, fostering spontaneous gameplay and a wide array of results stemming from each choice made.
The game, “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2,” is expected to offer approximately 100 hours of gameplay and conclude Henry’s adventure. If its debut runs smoothly, this title could be a strong contender for Game of the Year when it releases on February 4th, available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered
If Aspyr’s earlier remastered collection focused on showcasing Lara Croft’s best years, then the Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered takes a different approach. Apart from Tomb Raider 4, it includes two of the franchise’s least favored titles – Tomb Raider: Chronicles and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Despite this, the team is putting in a lot of effort, significantly upgrading character models and visuals, incorporating a new Fly-by Camera, and even reinstating content removed from the sixth game.
If you’re one of those who recall the old challenging times, it could be a toss of luck for you. But if you want to encounter the ultimate editions, then keep an eye out for Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered, which is set to release on February 14th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2
In the reprised version of “Trails through Daybreak 2,” also known as “Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN-” in its original language, our story once more unfolds within the Republic of Calvard. The protagonist this time is Van Arkride, a character who navigates moral ambiguities. However, when a notorious killer surfaces, the lines between right and wrong become distinctly clearer. This menace is identified as an ominous crimson beast, reminiscent of the legendary Grendel.
Investigations commence anew in this adventure, but with a twist: players can now choose different paths accompanied by diverse factions, each offering distinct gameplay elements reminiscent of Trails into Reverie. The introduction of combat mechanics such as EX Chains and Cross Charge promises an engaging experience, making Trails through Daybreak 2 a sequel worth anticipating. It releases on February 14th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Lost Records: Bloom and Rage
Although Tape 2 is scheduled for release in April, the game titled “Lost Records: Bloom and Rage” is still slated to premiere Tape 1 on February 18th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The narrative spans across 1995 and 2022, following protagonist Swann as they spend the Summer with friends Nora, Autumn, and Kat. However, a grave incident occurs, causing the group to disband and sever all contact…until 2022, when their past resurfaces as a threat. Similar to DON’T NOD’s other story-driven games, “Lost Records: Bloom and Rage” offers choices that shape the plot, multiple conclusions, and a host of mysteries we’re eager to solve.
Avowed
It may have come as a surprise that the latest RPG would encounter so many hold-ups, but it’s now gearing up for release on February 18th for both PC and Xbox Series X/S. Unlike previous versions set in Eora, this time the narrative unfolds within the Living Lands, placing players in the role of an Aedyr Empire emissary tasked with halting the Dream Scourge from spreading across the land.
In complex situations where various groups are involved, you’ll have the flexibility to choose your own path, tackling tasks in diverse manners and gathering supporters for your mission. “Avowed” is an underdog among upcoming games, but it might shine if its storytelling, combat mechanics, and quest construction prove exceptional.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s latest spin-off explores a thought-provoking question: Could Goro Majima not be the maniacal knife-wielder with a golden heart if he had lost his memory? The answer is no, and for added intrigue, he even takes command of a ship and crew. This exciting adventure unfolds across multiple islands, including Honolulu from “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,” offering players the experience of “Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.” This game introduces new combat elements such as jumping attacks, naval combat, crew management, and much more, all rolled into an expansive gaming experience.
Regardless of the extravagant aspects, RGG Studio guarantees an emotionally resonant narrative much like their previous titles. The game Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on February 21st for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Following many years of anticipation for a genuine sequel to “Monster Hunter World”, the series is now providing it with “Monster Hunter Ridges”. This time, players venture into the Forbidden Lands, where they’ll encounter new ecosystems, native creatures, and beasts to hunt. The most significant alterations include effortless movement between locations and herds of monsters, as well as weather conditions that transform the environment dynamically.
In addition to its open-ended gameplay style, you can pitch a tent anywhere and embark on quests without needing to return to the base camp. The Focus system facilitates more precise attacks, while Focus Strikes boost damage when inflicting injuries on creatures. Whether you’re a fresh recruit or a seasoned veteran with countless hours spent in the World, Monster Hunter Rise promises an extraordinary hunting escapade upon its release on February 28th, available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
PGA Tour 2K25
Looking for something extra in your action-packed role-playing game month? It seems you’ll get it with the launch of the new PGA Tour! Set to debut on February 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, PGA Tour 2K25 promises an incredibly immersive MyCareer mode with customizable MyPlayer using Attribute Points and equipment advancement. New tournaments such as the US Open and PGA Championship will make their debut, while seasons guarantee regular content updates that won’t expire, finally! Designing courses, experimenting with new shot types, and more, PGA Tour 2K25 could serve as a refreshing change in this month filled with big-name releases.
Project Tachyon
As a gamer, I’ve been quite thrilled with this year’s lineup for side-scrolling platformers, from ‘Blade Chimera’ to ‘Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist’. It seems that Studio N9 is set to maintain that momentum with their upcoming title, ‘Project Tachyon’, a run-and-gun action game featuring rogue-lite mechanics. In this game, I step into the role of Agent Sigma, who’s on a mission to prevent a nuclear catastrophe by traveling back in time. Equipped with a variety of ranged and melee weapons, I’ll be battling hoards of enemies while choosing from over 200 genes to boost my abilities (though watch out for malicious genes that could cause harm instead). With the freedom to pick my path, upgrade and unlock weapons, and delve deeper into the storyline, ‘Project Tachyon’ appears to be a promising addition to the rogue-lite genre.
Rift of the NecroDancer
In Rift of the NecroDancer, Cadence transitions from dungeon exploration to a fast-paced rhythm game, where monsters are vanquished on a rhythmic map. Mastering their individual traits and timing the elimination correctly is crucial, and there’s a diverse selection of over 30 tracks to dance along with. For those looking for a tough challenge, the Impossible mode offers an increased level of difficulty (though it isn’t truly unbeatable).
In Rift of the NecroDancer, you’ll find a unique feature called Remix Mode, where it creates a fresh beatmap as you play a song. Additionally, there are daily challenges for you to compete in and climb the leaderboards. This rhythm-based game is set to launch on February 5th for PC, with plans for a Nintendo Switch release at a later date.
