10 Characters Who Could Save the Straw Hats in Egghead Part 2

After resuming production in April 2025, Egghead Part 2 of the series has ventured into uncharted territories like never before. For instance, we learned about Saint Jaygarcia’s spider-like appearance, and the God Valley Incident was hinted at through Bartholomew Kuma’s flashback. Given these developments, it seems that Eiichiro Oda’s iconic series is edging closer to its final stages than ever before.

Prior to proceeding with their next journey, the Straw Hat Pirates must first break free from the massive Marine and World Government forces stationed near Egghead’s waters. Although Monkey D. Luffy and his team might manage to extricate themselves without assistance, there are several significant characters from “One Piece” who could show up to help them battle against the World Government.

Most of the Egghead Arc’s Storytelling Points to Kuma’s Return

Since the Straw Hat Pirates and Jewelry Bonney landed on Egghead Island, I haven’t had the chance to step foot there myself. However, among all One Piece characters, it is widely anticipated that the Mad Tyrant, Bartholomew Kuma, will make an appearance before the Egghead Arc concludes. Kuma has been a central figure in the narrative of the Egghead Arc, and over the past few episodes, there’s been a growing emphasis on revealing his past.

Observing the events unfolding, it seems clear why the once powerful Warlord of the Sea might interfere with Saint Saturn’s attack on Egghead Island. With Jewelry Bonney’s involvement in the Egghead Arc, Bartholomew Kuma’s mysterious departure from Mariejois, and a multitude of other factors at play, it’s not hard to imagine him making a reappearance, potentially to rescue the Straw Hat Pirates. As for whether Kuma still possesses enough of his original self to act effectively, time will tell. For now, he appears to be the most likely candidate to show up on Egghead Island.

The Egghead Arc’s Parallels to Sabaody Are Abundant

During the Egghead Island storyline in “One Piece,” there are multiple similarities to the Straw Hat Pirates’ earlier encounter with Admiral Kizaru in the Saboady Archipelago. While there are numerous distinctions this time, a key event featuring Silvers Rayleigh could strengthen the link between these two narratives even more.

During the Straw Hat Pirates’ confrontation with Admiral Kizaru on Sabaody Archipelago, it was none other than the ex-first mate of the Roger Pirates, Silvers Rayleigh, who stepped in to halt his advance. Given that Luffy’s crew is currently facing a tough situation, the Egghead Arc appears ripe for the reappearance of the Dark King (Silver Rayleigh).

The Revolutionary Army Has a Major Opportunity in Front of Them

Following over 1100 episodes of “One Piece”, Monkey D. Dragon, the head of the Revolutionary Army and Monkey D. Luffy’s father, has had limited speaking roles. This is surprising given his importance in the Grand Line, as he seldom spoke since his debut in the Loguetown Arc. However, since the end of the Wano Arc, we’ve seen him more often, indicating that a significant move from him might be coming up sooner, rather than later.

The World Government has amassed a formidable army on Egghead Island, including a fleet that could significantly weaken the Marines if they were to lose. However, the Revolutionary Army would prefer to minimize direct confrontations with the World Government. Yet, their presence could drastically shift the battle dynamics, potentially leading to a significant win for Dragon, the Revolutionary Army, and the Straw Hat Pirates.

The Straw Hat Pirates Could Use Their Oversized Allies’ Strength

Following the end of the Wano Arc, enthusiastic fans of One Piece were pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse of Dorry and Brogy in a brief scene that transitioned to Elbaf. This dynamic duo swiftly demolished Eustass Kid’s vessel using the same technique they employed to pave the way for the Straw Hat Pirates’ exit during the Little Garden Arc. This could hint at an upcoming encounter between these characters and the main protagonists of One Piece.

The Egghead Arc subtly suggests that if the Straw Hat Pirates manage to evade the grasp of the World Government, they might be bound for Elbaf. A warm welcome from their previous comrades Dorry and Brogy could signal their arrival most effectively. Moreover, their formidable power would significantly bolster the Straw Hats in their struggle against the World Government’s troops, who are on the brink of overpowering the One Piece characters.

Two Emperors of the Sea Could Do a Lot of Damage to the World Government

In the world of “One Piece,” the Emperors of the Sea typically act independently and often harbor mutual disdain. However, there have been instances where they collaborate, so it’s plausible that a group like The Cross Guild could sail to Egghead Island to join forces against the World Government.

The Cross Guild has already earned themselves powerful adversaries by publicly offering bounties for notable Marines. Therefore, joining the events on Egghead may not necessarily boost their infamy further. However, it’s uncertain whether they would be there to rescue the Straw Hat Pirates or confront the World Government. What is certain is that Crocodile, Dracule Mihawk, and Buggy the Clown each have personal motivations for potentially clashing with Saint Saturn and other World Government representatives on the island.

The Revolutionary Army’s Rising Star Has Obvious Motivation to Save His Brother

Over the recent months, Sabo has been quite active in the world of One Piece. As the Chief of Staff for the Revolutionary Army, he has rescued the people of the Lulusia Kingdom and launched a direct attack on Mariejois following his separation from the Straw Hat Pirates at the end of the Dressrosa Saga. Given these circumstances, it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected if Sabo were to make a grand reappearance – more so since Luffy’s current adversaries are also sworn enemies of the Revolutionary Army.

Beyond just being personally tied to One Piece’s primary character, Sabo is also engaged in a war against the World Government. This conflict could intensify significantly if the Straw Hat Pirates manage to successfully flee Egghead Island. Moreover, his ability to traverse the Grand Line effortlessly due to certain circumstances increases the likelihood of a touching reunion between him and his brother in the not-too-distant future.

Sanji’s Family Leads the Only Maritime Nation in One Piece

From my vantage point, the Buster Calls have shown an astonishing ability to obliterate entire islands, but when it comes to attacking Egghead Island, their might is almost incomparable. The forces amassed by St. Saturn are greater than those of most nations, making it plausible that even the combined efforts of One Piece‘s principal characters might not be enough to survive their current predicament.

The Straw Hat Pirates maintain strong relationships with several significant nations, yet none offer as much freedom as Sanji’s family from the Germa Kingdom. Even though Judge Vinsmoke may not be particularly fond of his seafaring son, it’s highly unlikely he would want Sanji captured (or suffer a worse fate) at the hands of the World Government – especially if Judge believes that Sanji’s actions could aid his own plans.

Egghead’s Creator May Outthink the World Government Yet Again

In the second installment of Egghead, it’s evident that Dr. Vegapunk has chosen to align with Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew. Given their shared opposition against the World Government, if we were to consider characters from One Piece who might prevent the Straw Hats from suffering a crushing defeat, Dr. Vegapunk, undeniably the most brilliant scientist along the Grand Line, emerges as an obvious pick.

On numerous occasions, Dr. Vegapunk demonstrates his exceptional intelligence and swift thinking within the world of One Piece. Given this, it’s reasonable to anticipate that he could devise an escape plan from the World Government. However, to accomplish this, Vegapunk must outsmart himself since York has chosen to collaborate with the World Government in pursuit of Celestial Dragon status.

The Former Emperors of the Sea Are No Fans of the World Government

The storyline of One Piece’s Wano Arc ended with the significant victories over Charlotte Linlin and Kaido. Yet, given that Eiichiro Oda is renowned for resurrecting characters thought to be dead, it’s not hard to imagine these iconic figures making a sensational comeback in his ongoing manga series. After all, there are few characters who could generate as much excitement upon their return as the former Emperors of the Sea.

If Big Mom and Kaido were to reappear in the One Piece storyline soon, it’s uncertain how they would react to their past defeats. Despite their fierce battles during the Raid on Onigashima, it’s highly probable that Charlotte Linlin and Kaido would align with other pirates rather than the World Government. This is especially likely if Kaido believes Luffy to be the reincarnation of Joy Boy.

The Red-Haired Pirate May Be Ready to Strike

Among all characters in the Grand Line yet to be found, none are as significant as the red-haired pirate, Shanks. This sea emperor has been a part of the series since its commencement and has continuously demonstrated greater importance (and power) than viewers initially perceived. His recent feats, such as frightening Admiral Ryokugyu and defeating Eustass Kid with a single attack, explain why the Red Hair Pirates’ appearance previously ended the Summit War at Marineford years ago.

Though Shanks has frequently emphasized that he isn’t ready to meet Luffy yet, he surprisingly intervened at the conclusion of the Wano saga by chasing off Ryokugyu. To add to the mystery, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn has recently revealed his villainous intentions, which could be a sign Shanks was waiting for. Regardless, since Shanks’ last known location was Elbaph, it’s plausible that he will re-engage with the World Government’s affairs considering Egghead isn’t far from there.
