Valentine’s Day: A great opportunity to enjoy some quality gaming time with your Partner! Rather than enduring an uncomfortable dinner filled with pink decorations, consider swapping that for a fun-filled gaming experience instead. These games will challenge your patience and bond, or simply bring about shared screen madness. Whether your session is romantic, competitive (depending on your perspective), these selections are ideal. A little argument here and there might ensue, but isn’t that part of the excitement?
1. Palworld
We have a stronger affection for Palworld than Nintendo seems to have for lawsuits. It’s not just because some of the Pals are appealing (believe it or not). My partner and I enjoy playing Palworld together and sharing a common world, though we initially built a cozy base that I later left after he moved my bed into a small, outhouse-like structure as a joke. Now our bases are in competition, and I occasionally take his Pals if they have superior stats. What’s the point of having Player 2 if you can’t borrow from them? However, let me clarify that it’s really enjoyable to play Palworld with my partner, and the recent Feybreak update has added a new island, Pals, and equipment to the game, making it more exciting.
2. Baldur’s Gate 3

For couples (or groups of up to 4, including polyamorous ones) who enjoy role-playing games, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a fantastic choice. The unpredictability that comes with playing alongside another real person makes it even more exciting. My partner and I have had our fair share of hilarious adventures while playing this game together. However, reaching the end of the game might prove challenging. In our shared world, I embody a muscular barbarian character, while he plays a tiny monk dwarf. There’s nothing quite as romantic as tossing your partner into battle whenever they start flirting with non-player characters!
3. It Takes Two

One exceptional co-op game we’ve ever encountered is “It Takes Two,” which recently won Game of the Year. This title effortlessly blends multiple genres, placing you in the shoes of Cody and May, a couple on the brink of divorce amidst domestic struggles. The game allows you to collaborate seamlessly, but also provides opportunities for humorous interference during certain challenges. Additionally, you’ll find numerous mini-games scattered throughout each level that offer a fun competitive edge. We eagerly anticipate the release of Split Fiction by the same developers in March.
4. Vampire Survivors (Co-op Mode)

This game is perfect for those couples who enjoy a bit of organized chaos! If you found Vampire Survivors thrilling as a single player, wait until you try the local co-op mode! It’s even more entertaining when your partner meets their demise during a level, because they transform into a coffin that you must guard until they can be revived. Shared power-ups mean you have to strategize carefully to avoid grabbing the floor chicken when your partner is near death… unless you want to! The decision is yours.
5. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is an enchanting cooperative space-themed game. You and your companions manage the spaceship by moving from station to station for steering, shielding, and weaponry. The game design highlights love as a central theme while you journey through constellations, save adorable creatures, and fight off opponents. It’s also recommended as an excellent choice if you’re looking to introduce a non-gaming partner to the world of video games.
6. Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Split Screen)

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is an excellent choice for couples seeking a first-person shooter experience during their collaborative gaming sessions. This collection offers a total of six games (Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4) featuring campaigns, multiplayer maps, and extra content such as Forge mode and custom playlists. Additionally, it supports split-screen gaming for up to two players in both campaigns and multiplayer on Xbox consoles, making it perfect for casual, couch co-op gaming. So, if you’re ready to join forces with Master Chief, get ready to team up!
7. Overcooked 2

This challenging game, suitable for unshakeable partnerships, might find you carrying your possessions in trash bags from home if played by less durable bonds. Can you and Player 2 complete several stages without yelling about mix-ups like “onions instead of tomatoes” or arguing over a dropped burger? Overcooked is a unique blend of cooperation and fury, but if your relationship can withstand this game, it can endure anything.
Well I’m single. What about me?
What a fortunate situation! You can enjoy each of these games individually (except for It Takes Two), eliminating disagreements about the preferred controller. Indulge in the Xbox Cipher Pulse Controller instead. After all, being your own Player 2 implies no concessions, and no one will criticize you for having dinner consisting of crackers—and all the “floor chicken” is entirely yours!
