10 Xbox Game Pass Games That Can’t Come Soon Enough in 2025

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades under my belt, I must say that the gaming landscape of 2025 looks nothing short of breathtaking! With such a diverse array of titles gracing our beloved Xbox Game Pass, it’s hard not to feel like a kid in a candy store.

From the nostalgic beats of Mixtape, reminiscent of my youthful days, to the magical adventure that is South of Midnight, I can’t help but feel excited about the tales that lie ahead. The Outer Worlds 2 promises yet another dose of humor and charm, while 33 Immortals looks set to deliver an epic multiplayer experience that I simply cannot wait to try out with my friends.

However, it is the indie titles that truly capture my heart. Beethoven & Dinosaur’s Mixtape takes me back to the days of MTV and cassette tapes, while Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight evokes memories of the Southern Gothic novels I devoured in my twenties.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some gaming to do! I can almost hear the sweet symphony of those 90s beats calling my name… just don’t tell anyone I still have my Walkman hidden away somewhere. Oh, and remember: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade… or in this case, when life gives you games, play them! Cheers to an amazing gaming year ahead!

As a long-time gamer with fond memories of playing Xbox games since its early days, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be an exceptional year for Xbox Game Pass subscribers like myself. With the promise of immersive experiences set in various time periods, from the brutal Dark Ages to the vibrant 1990s, it feels as if Microsoft has tailored their offerings to cater to a wide range of gaming preferences. As someone who enjoys a good mix of action, adventure, and nostalgia, I eagerly await the unveiling of these games in two waves each month, with both first-party and third-party titles set to join the ever-growing library. I’m particularly intrigued by the prospect of reliving my youth through 1990s-themed games, as well as exploring new, fantastical worlds in Albion. Overall, I believe that Xbox Game Pass continues to provide outstanding value for gamers like me who appreciate a diverse selection of high-quality titles, and 2025 looks to be no exception.

As a long-time gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of new games to my Xbox Game Pass subscription. Although many upcoming titles remain shrouded in mystery, there are several that I am confident will captivate me once they’re released – provided there aren’t any unexpected delays. With this in mind, here are 10 future Xbox Game Pass releases that, if given the chance, I would dive into straight away and likely never leave the house again!

Avowed (February 18th)

In the upcoming first-person action RPG titled “Avowed,” Obsidian Entertainment is bringing their story back to Pillars of Eternity’s world, Eora. As an envoy from the Ardyr Empire, you will endeavor to halt a baffling plague spreading throughout the expansive Living Lands. In this game, you can expect to wield potent spells, encounter new allies, and traverse a vibrant yet hazardous realm.

The previews suggest an engaging experience, offering a vivid color scheme and combat mechanics reminiscent of “Skyrim,” which fans of the Elder Scrolls series may appreciate. Originally scheduled for release in 2024, Avowed has been moved to this year, making it a highly anticipated title for Game Pass subscribers, much like “Starfield” was.

Atomfall (March 21st)

Drawing inspiration from “Fallout: New Vegas”, Atomfall by Rebellion seems poised to offer a distinctive perspective on apocalyptic backdrops. The game is set in an alternate 1960s, where nuclear catastrophes have transformed Northern England into a radioactive wasteland. In this post-disaster world, you’ll find yourself battling against robots, cultists, and various monstrous creatures using a diverse selection of weapons and your survival instincts. Notably, the team behind it is also responsible for the intricately detailed Sniper Elite series, with its latest two installments, “Sniper Elite 5” and “Sniper Elite: Resistance”, available on Game Pass. Therefore, enthusiasts of post-apocalyptic narratives similar to those found in S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Fallout should be looking forward to exploring England come March.

Call of Duty 2025 (TBA 2025)

As a hardcore gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise is shaping up to be a game-changer for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. With the tremendous success of previous iterations like Black Ops 6 on the platform, the anticipation for this new release is palpable.

Rumors abound about what the next Call of Duty will offer, with some suggesting it could be Modern Warfare 4 or a sequel to Black Ops 2 – both featuring Omni-movement gameplay that I’m eager to try out. Whatever it may be, the triple-threat combination of its multiplayer, campaign, and zombies mode has consistently proven that Call of Duty is here to stay as a dominant force in the gaming world.

I can hardly wait to dive back into this iconic franchise and see what fresh challenges and experiences they’ve cooked up for us gamers. The hype is real, and I have no doubt that the newest Call of Duty will deliver yet another epic adventure for us to conquer!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (TBA 2025)

Amongst all the games showcased at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, none garnered more excitement from gamers than “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”, a gripping turn-based RPG that takes inspiration from Persona and Final Fantasy series. This game boasts an impressive cast including Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings) and Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI). The story revolves around players confronting the Paintress, a deity-like figure who eradicates individuals when their age is marked by her. The gameplay and music, even for a debut project from Sandfall Interactive, appear to be nothing short of breathtaking. Given its potential, it’s advisable to keep an eye on “Clair Obscur” as it might just turn out to be the surprise hit of the year.

Doom The Dark Ages (TBA 2025)

As someone who has been playing video games since the days of the Atari 2600, I must say that the upcoming release of Doom: The Dark Ages has me genuinely excited. With its gritty, action-packed gameplay and a setting that takes us to the Dark Ages, albeit with advanced technology, it’s like a dream come true for any fan of the series. As the glorious Doom Slayer, I’ll be able to do what I do best: slaying demons while saving the kingdom from their grasp.

The new weapons in this game, such as the bone-grinding gun and chainsaw shield, promise a fresh and exhilarating experience for even the most seasoned Doom player. And let’s not forget about the accolades that the previous titles have received – if The Dark Ages manages to up the ante on those, we’re in for a bloody good time indeed. I can hardly wait!

Fable (TBA 2025)

Game Pass offers storytelling games in abundance, but none quite match the appeal of the legendary Fable series. Known for its enchanting settings, intricate narratives, and immersive gameplay, Fable was a crown jewel on original Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles. Now, as we leap into the next generation, a fresh storyline awaits us, promising to be an engaging adventure. With Playground Games leading the charge, the stunning visuals will guide our new Albion hero on a quest to save their kingdom from darkness. If past installments are any indication, Fable could easily become a must-play game that you won’t want to miss!

Mixtape (TBA 2025)

Indie games can produce some of the most original and cutting-edge experiences when executed well, and that’s exactly what “Mixtape” aspires to achieve – encapsulating the exuberance of the 90s by focusing on one of its key elements: music. Accompanied by the tunes of Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, DEVO, and other iconic artists, you’ll follow the lives and climactic journey of three friends on their way to their last bash before parting ways. Developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur, the creators behind “The Artful Escape,” “Mixtape” promises a bittersweet and emotional ride filled with a sprinkle of teenage rebellion.

South of Midnight (TBA 2025)

Are you excited about the opportunity to explore a gothic, magical adventure set in the Deep South, in a style reminiscent of stop-motion animation? If so, you’ll be glad to know that Xbox Game Pass members will have the chance to play South of Midnight, developed by Compulsion Games – the team behind We Happy Few. In this game, you’ll assume the role of Hazel, a wandering Weaver who seeks to heal fractured souls while searching for her missing mother in an enigmatic Southern Gothic landscape. The Xbox Games Showcase trailer gave us a sneak peek at some impressive action sequences as well as beautifully crafted cutscenes. Given its potential and the fact that it’s a brand-new intellectual property from a highly promising studio, South of Midnight is shaping up to be Xbox’s marquee title. When it releases, we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in this mysterious world and see what all the fuss in the bayou is about!

The Outer Worlds 2 (TBA 2025)

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that even though Obsidian Entertainment is already known for its stellar work, they have another gem up their sleeve for this year – “The Outer Worlds 2”. This sequel to the side-splitting 2019 game takes us back to the satirical world of overcommercialized space systems, now set in Arcadia. As an EDA agent, I’ll be investigating rifts that, amidst a fierce faction war, could potentially wipe out everything in the colony. With fresh companions, weapons, and decisions to shape the narrative, we’re in for another rollercoaster ride of laughter, charm, and a story that’s nothing short of interstellar!

33 Immortals (TBA 2025)

As a lifelong gamer with a penchant for cooperative multiplayer games, I am beyond excited about Thunder Lotus Games’ upcoming release, “33 Immortals.” Having played and thoroughly enjoyed Spiritfarer, it’s clear that this team knows how to craft immersive, engaging experiences.

With its roots in action-oriented gameplay and a top-down roguelike format, the game promises an intense and collaborative experience for up to 32 players simultaneously. The premise of taking revenge on a God who banished these Immortals to Purgatory is intriguing, and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.

The ability to choose from various character classes such as ranged and support adds another layer of depth, encouraging experimentation and teamwork. Multiplayer games have a history of becoming massive hits, and with “33 Immortals,” Thunder Lotus Games may very well strike gold again. I can’t wait to dive in and give it a try!
