As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the potential of these games being optimized for the PS5 Pro has me practically dancing in my seat!
Now that the PS5 Pro has been officially unveiled, there’s much debate about whether its power justifies the $700 price tag set by Sony, yet many gaming enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the numerous games that will receive visual and technical enhancements when optimized for the PS5 Pro. In this article, we’ll discuss some games we hope to see get these upgrades.
BLACK MYTH: WUKONG
Black Myth: Wukong stands out as one of the most visually stunning games recently released, however, it’s clear that it has some technical flaws, particularly on the PS5 platform. It’s worth noting that the standard PS5 has the capacity to run a more polished version of Game Science’s action RPG. With future updates, we hope these issues will be addressed in the near term. Furthermore, we are eager to see what the developers could achieve with the powerful hardware of the rumored PS5 Pro, as the idea of an already stunning game becoming even more visually appealing is quite intriguing.
SILENT HILL 2
In terms of one specific aspect where Bloober Team consistently excels, it’s their visuals. With the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2, it appears that they are aiming to maintain a similar level of quality in terms of production values. Given that Silent Hill 2 is set to be released just before the PS5 Pro and will likely serve as a flagship exclusive for PlayStation, it wouldn’t be shocking if Sony collaborated with Konami and Bloober Team to utilize this visual masterpiece to demonstrate the capabilities of the PS5 Pro.
RISE OF THE RONIN
The initial launch of “Rise of the Ronin” this year received mixed reactions. While the open-world action RPG was applauded for its engaging action and combat mechanics, it also had its shortcomings. For instance, visually, the game’s presentation can be unpredictable, particularly when playing in Performance Mode, which offers the optimal gaming experience. The PS5 Pro boasts about not having to sacrifice either fidelity or performance, and “Rise of the Ronin” seems to exemplify how effectively the console can handle such a balance.
REMNANT 2
Last year’s underappreciated gem, Gunfire Games’ Soulslike RPG shooter Remnant 2, continues to captivate us. We can’t help but dream about a polished PS5 Pro version of this game. From the hauntingly beautiful and grim landscapes it invites you to traverse, to the intense combat it immerses you in, Remnant 2 is technically impressive, and with enhanced hardware, it could reach even greater heights.
TEKKEN 8
Tekken 8 showcases a stunning representation of what a game built exclusively on Unreal Engine 5 for current-generation systems could achieve. It’s visually impressive, and its action sequences take this beauty to another level. As a fighting game, performance is crucial in Tekken 8, and while we appreciate the focus it maintains on delivering smooth gameplay, we can’t help but anticipate an even more polished version that performs just as well (or possibly better). Fortunately, the potential of the rumored PS5 Pro suggests this could become a reality, at least theoretically.
UNTIL DAWN
In the near future, we’ll witness an enhanced version of the popular PS4 horror adventure game Until Dawn, as it is set to receive a remake. Given its status as one of PlayStation’s significant upcoming exclusive titles, it seems plausible that this remake will align with the launch of the PS5 Pro console. Since the PS5 Pro is due out shortly after the game’s remake, it’s reasonable to anticipate a patch for the game tailored for the PS5 Pro within a short timeframe following its release.
ELDEN RING
Elden Ring may not be a technical marvel, yet it stands as an exceptional demonstration of how a game can remain breathtakingly beautiful without relying on the latest technology. However, there are some areas that could use polishing, particularly in terms of performance, making a PS5 Pro update seem quite appealing. Given FromSoftware’s open-world masterpiece is one of the most acclaimed and successful games for the PS5, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was among the first titles to receive an upgrade for the upcoming Pro model.
DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD
As a die-hard fan, I must admit, it was a bit unexpected that “Dragon Age: Veilguard” didn’t make the initial cut of PS5 Pro enhancement confirmed titles, considering its highly anticipated release status. However, I remain optimistic that we’ll see this game upgraded for the console soon. Here’s hoping the PS5’s advanced ray tracing and PSSR technology can bring the action RPG close to matching the PC version’s visual quality.
NO MAN’S SKY
Even though No Man’s Sky is nearing its tenth anniversary, it continues to impress visually, thanks not just to its stunning art style but also the ongoing technical improvements made by Hello Games under the hood. In fact, these enhancements are what lead us to believe that a PS5 Pro patch for No Man’s Sky might be released soon. The game could take advantage of the PS5 Pro in several noticeable ways, such as faster world streaming, higher-quality rendering, and potentially even ray tracing.
LORDS OF THE FALLEN
Amidst the multitude of Soulslike games, Lords of the Fallen distinguished itself last year, despite some notable gameplay and design flaws. A significant factor contributing to its uniqueness was its stunning visual appeal, a point emphasized throughout this article. Notably, we wish to see the dark fantasy realm of Lords of the Fallen elevated with the addition of advanced ray tracing technology, without compromising performance.
DYING LIGHT 2 STAY HUMAN
Techland is set to launch another installment of the popular game, Dying Light, titled Dying Light: The Beast. It’s expected that this new game will be enhanced for the PS5 Pro. However, before diving into the next chapter, we believe it would be beneficial to refine Dying Light 2: Staying Human as well. Although visually appealing, Dying Light 2 could be considered a ‘diamond in the rough’. The PS5 Pro is marketed as a console that can help developers smooth out the technical bumps in games, and we believe Techland could make the most of this opportunity by refining the zombie-slaying action RPG experience.
CYBERPUNK 2077
Initially, Cyberpunk 2077 faced a rocky debut on consoles, and personally, I wouldn’t even consider playing it on a PlayStation 4. However, on the PlayStation 5, CDPR’s action RPG is nothing short of breathtaking, transforming Night City into a visually stunning masterpiece that rivals the beauty seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. The PC version of Cyberpunk has showcased impressive ray tracing effects, so it would be intriguing to see how the game performs and looks with this technology on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR
The game “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” initially suffered from significant technical issues upon release, particularly on consoles, but has since improved. However, it’s not yet running perfectly as intended. Given these circumstances, it seems logical that Respawn Entertainment would utilize the powerful capabilities of the PS5 Pro to deliver the game at its intended quality – one that offers stunning visuals, high fidelity, ray tracing, and a steady frame rate. It wouldn’t be surprising if this upgrade happens sooner rather than later.
BALDUR’S GATE 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a mighty impressive game in more ways than one, but even its most ardent defenders will agree that it can chug a little but on the technical side of things, whether that’s during particularly hectic battles, or when you’re in a dense city environment. Its issues are obviously understandable – there’s a ridiculous amount constantly going on behind-the-scenes in this game – so we’re not sure if even on a PS5 Pro all of that would be totally fixed- but we’d sure like to see Larian Studios take a shot at it.
WARHAMMER 40,000: SPACE MARINE 2
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, Space Marine 2 has left me spellbound this year. The sheer spectacle of battling hordes upon hordes of enemies in real-time without a single hiccup in performance, all while maintaining such stunning visuals, is nothing short of magical. It’s almost unfair to ask for more, but oh boy, I can’t help but imagine how breathtaking Space Marine 2 could be with the enhanced fidelity and ray tracing capabilities that the rumored PS5 Pro might offer. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long to witness that marvel in action.
