2024 Olympics: Fencer Nada Hafez Competes While 7 Months Pregnant

I’ve had the incredible opportunity to witness and follow the lives of these exceptional athletes as they prepare for the 2024 Olympics. Their dedication, focus, and determination are truly awe-inspiring.

Nada Hafez wasn’t alone for her 2024 Olympic bouts.

At the Olympics in Paris, the Egyptian fencer shared that she competed while pregnant with her first child, which was seven months along at the time, alongside her husband named Ibrahim Ihab.

In her Instagram post on July 30th, following her advancement to the round of 16, Nada said, “Initially, it seemed like only two individuals were on the podium, but there were actually three. It was myself, my fellow competitor, and an upcoming member of our world – my unborn child!”

I can certainly relate to the experience of facing challenges during pregnancy, both physically and emotionally. The journey of carrying a child is no easy feat, and adding the responsibility of maintaining a healthy work-life balance while pursuing sports only adds to the complexity. It’s like riding a rollercoaster with unexpected twists and turns at every turn, but the rewards are immeasurable and make it all worthwhile in the end.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that in this way: At the age of 26, despite losing to Jeon Hayoung from South Korea in the round of 16 after an impressive win against Elizabeth Tartakovsky from the USA in the round of 32, I took a moment to bask in the pride of what I had achieved and acknowledge those who supported me throughout my journey.

1. “She noted that it was fortunate for her to gain the trust of both her husband and family, allowing her to reach this point. This Olympics, however, stood out; I’ve been an Olympian three times before, but this time, I had a tiny fellow Olympian with me!”

In a post on his Instagram story, Ibrahim described his wife, who holds a medical degree and earned gold medals in both individual and team saber competitions at the 2019 African Games, as “quite literally a queen.”

2024 Olympic Games also brought an additional thrilling baby news alongside Nada’s delightful revelation.

1. During his bronze-medal win in the 100m backstroke event for Team USA, swimmer Ryan Murphy experienced an unforgettable surprise.

At the conclusion of the swim competition where the 29-year-old finished in third place, making him the first three-time medalist in this particular event, his wife Bridget Konttinen Murphy, who was in the audience pregnant, displayed a sign with the message “Ryan, it’s a girl!”

In the same spirit, fellow Olympian Rowdy Gaines expressed on that day, “This achievement surpasses any medal. Well done, Murph!”

As the ecstatic bride, I can’t help but gush! Last September, I sealed my bond with the extraordinary Ryan. On his special day, as we shared an unforgettable kiss, I couldn’t contain my feelings any longer. “A night we’ll never forget,” I declared on Instagram, followed by a heartfelt, “I love you so much!”
