At the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 11th, a standout performance by the Golden Voyager character caught the attention of spectators on social media right away.
The masked alien figure, created by the artistic director Thomas Jolly, made its descent from the arena’s peak, adorned in full golden armor complete with a spiked crown. This character has been likened to a “space wasp” by a user on X (previously known as Twitter).
Thomas skillfully crafted an artistic character embodying the spirit of the Voyager Golden Record, which is a space-bound record symbolizing humanity, as reported by the Associated Press. This captivating portrayal held viewers spellbound during a ceremony segment dedicated to celebrating France’s rich history and the Olympic Games themselves.
Apart from descending from the rafters, the Golden Voyager also performed an extended dance routine filled with symbolic movements near the stage for the Closing Ceremony. This performance stirred a variety of opinions among spectators, who took to social media to express their thoughts on its artistic aspect.
One X user commented, “The topic of ‘sleep paralysis entities’ is intriguing for the grand finale; let’s discover how it unfolds.”
Simultaneously, some individuals likened the appearance to a scene from The Masked Singer, and even proposed guesses about the identity hidden beneath the ornate attire.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share that I had the honor of witnessing Nick Mead, an esteemed Team USA rower, and the remarkable 14-time Olympic medalist swimmer, Katie Ledecky, serving as flag bearers in the ceremony. Notably, Katie hinted at her upcoming plans for the summer games scheduled in Los Angeles.
In response to questions from Mike Tirico and Jimmy Fallon during the Closing Ceremony, the 27-year-old expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I can’t wait to take a dip in 2028! I believe competing in front of my home crowd would be an unforgettable experience.”
