Nikki Glaser is hoping one 2025 Golden Globes nominee in particular is hiding behind his aviators.
As the emcee of the January 5th event, the comedian understands that everyone will be focusing on her when she steps onto the stage at the Beverly Hilton. However, she openly confessed that she’s eager to steer clear of making eye contact with Glen Powell, who is nominated in the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category for “Hit Man”. She wasn’t shy about explaining her reason for this preference.
Nikki revealed to Zuri Hall at the Golden Globes for Live From TopMob that he would be in the background, and he would be wearing sunglasses to avoid eye contact since it would distract her, as she needs to maintain composure.
Moving past the humor, a 40-year-old woman who has been nominated for her first Golden Globe for her comedy special “Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die,” confessed that despite being in the presence of Hollywood’s top stars now, this is far from how her regular life unfolds.
Nikki shared that she seldom encounters these individuals, as she never thought she would be on the Golden Globes stage a decade ago. “There I was, completely astounded,” she said, “with Angelina Jolie having to endure my nine-minute speech!
However, when she ascends to present her speech before Glen, Angelina, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and numerous other luminaries, she will undoubtedly feel well-prepared.
Nikki shared with Zuri, “I’ve shared this story 93 times already, and here we go with number 94. It keeps evolving, from when I last told it up until now. So we’re always tweaking things, striving to enhance the humor, aiming to strike the perfect balance of tone for tonight.
Even after practicing her monologue over and over, about a hundred times to be exact, I can’t help but feel the thrill of improvisation lurking around the corner. Every repetition has honed my performance, making me more than ready for an unexpected witticism.
She playfully implied, “I feel like I might get a bit carried away since I’m so comfortable with it,” she teased. “But now, I’ll be meeting people and talking to Glen Powell and Timothée Chalamet right here. That’s bound to stir something fresh in my mind for certain.
