28 Days Later is set to have a follow-up titled 28 Years Later, with an impressive lineup of prominent actors joining the production.
In this sequel, occurring approximately three decades since the initial film, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes take center stage as characters portraying a group of survivors. They inhabit an isolated island, having successfully avoided contamination by the “rage” virus, and are now living under quarantine conditions.
Initially, spectators believed they saw the original cast member, Cillian Murphy, appearing as a zombie in the latest trailer, apparently lending credence to speculations about his return to the post-apocalyptic series. However, this assumption was quickly proven false by The Guardian’s clarification.
According to the report, it’s not Murphy, known for his role as bike messenger Jim in the original series, who will play “Emaciated Infected”. Instead, a newcomer named Angus Neill has been cast for this part.
According to Neill, director Danny Boyle had noticed his talent and wanted him for the movie’s role. He stated that Boyle had mentioned he’d long thought of Neill for this specific part. After meeting and getting along well, Neill decided to join the production.
He continued: “On set he has an extraordinary ability to hypnotise you, and working with him on the film was a very, very intense experience.”
