As a cinephile, I can’t help but express my delight in the way this film doesn’t disappoint horror enthusiasts who might have joined the ride just for the thrills and gory scenes. The violence in it is masterfully crafted, both shocking and skillfully executed, leaving me on the edge of my seat.

28 Years Later takes place nearly three decades following the original rage virus incident from the first movie, featuring a brand new ensemble led by Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

A fresh face, Alfie Williams, joins the group, portraying Spike, a young resident of Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island. This isolated Northumbrian island, linked to the mainland by a solitary causeway, is inhabited by a close-knit community that has constructed a self-sustaining society far from the contaminated areas.

As a passionate moviegoer, I’d express it like this: The story unfolds as I, along with Alfie, embark on my first journey to the mainland, led by my father (Taylor-Johnson), for an ancient hunt. However, compelled by the desperate need to heal my ailing mother (Comer), I decide to return, convinced that a secluded physician (Fiennes) holds the key to her recovery.

The movie is marketed as the start of a brand-new trilogy. The sequel has already been filmed, but the final installment hasn’t been given the go-ahead yet. If audience response aligns with these initial critiques, we expect it won’t be long before… (it gets approved)
