The recent update for Riot Games’ fighting game, “2XKO,” didn’t seem very optimistic. Game Director Shaun Rivera revealed that the team is planning a larger-scale playtest phase next month, but due to the need to enhance the game’s infrastructure, they will instead conduct a smaller test run first. However, on the bright side, some players will get another chance to play “2XKO” during the newly announced Alpha Lab 2 playtest.
Today, Riot Games unveiled a new testing phase, along with a video demonstrating their work from the past six months. The fresh elements and adjustments revealed will be incorporated during the upcoming 2XKO Alpha Lab 2 stage starting on April 18th. From that moment, players in the U.S., Canada, Brazil (using PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S) can participate in the game over the weekend, as the playtest concludes on April 20th.
Initially registered participants of the 2XKO Alpha Lab 1 will be automatically enrolled in the forthcoming playtest phase. However, this does not mean an invitation is guaranteed. Given that it’s a limited-scale test, players won’t be allowed to bring friends through referrals during this period. For those who haven’t signed up yet for the playtests, you need to create a Riot account and register on the provided website here.
Without a doubt, one of the most thrilling additions in 2XKO Alpha Lab 2 is the debut of Jinx as a playable character. Known from the popular game League of Legends, Jinx brings her unique style to the game with her impressive array of guns, traps, and explosives that she uses to defeat enemies. You can find a complete rundown of her moveset here. And don’t forget, all champions from the previous playtest will still be available. Here is every character you can play as in 2XKO Alpha Lab 2:
Playable Characters:
1. Jinx (New)
2. (All Champions from Previous Playtest)
- Jinx
- Braum
- Ekko
- Yasuo
- Darius
- Ahri
- Illaoi
In the upcoming version of 2XKO Alpha Lab 2, there’s an exciting addition called the Pulse Combo setting. Previously, there was a feature called Pulse Fuse that required a team to use its Fuse slot for activating autocombos. However, this setup made it mandatory for both teammates to perform autocombos, which wasn’t preferred by more competitive players because it could limit their strategies. To address this feedback, the developers have replaced Pulse Fuse with a new system. Now, each player can independently activate the Pulse Combo setting during champion selection without needing to use a team’s Fuse slot.
fortunate players granted entry into 2XKO Alpha Lab 2 will have an opportunity to trial two novel Fuses, each tailored towards solo gamers. As previously stated by Rivera, the Sidekick Fuse binds the role of point and assist champions in these designated positions. The point champion gains a health enhancement, plus an additional defensive boost when their health falls below 30%. On the other hand, the assist champion bolsters the point character with assists and Fuse skills, but does not engage in direct combat.
The second option is known as the Juggernaut Fuse. This feature removes the assistant character from the game altogether. In return, the main character receives various advantages and boosts to compensate for the absent ally. This specific Fuse is ideal for players who wish to master a single champion or newcomers trying to grasp the basics of the game. Here’s a list of all the benefits champions receive with the Juggernaut Fuse:
– Enhanced damage output
– Increased movement speed
– Improved defensive abilities
– Bonus resources (mana, energy, etc.)
– Special temporary abilities or ultimates
– Reduced cooldowns on skills and abilities
- Increased overall health
- Defensive boost while below 30% health
- Access to Fury Break at round start
- Access to Eject, a unique mechanic that costs one bar of meter and forces your opponent’s assist champ to tag in
- Access to self-Double Down, allowing them to perform two Supers back-to-back, or a Super and Ultimate back-to-back
- Starts with two bars of Super meter and can store up to five
2XKO is about to undergo several fresh modifications in its next playtest. These changes encompass visual enhancements, lobby upgrades, tutorial revisions, control adjustments, and mechanical improvements. Additionally, it will unveil a variety of cosmetic items and offer a complimentary Battle Pass. For more information, head over to Riot Games’ post here.
The developer has confirmed that due to this smaller playtest than initially planned by Riot Games, a larger one will take place closer to the game’s release. However, they also confirm there’s a possibility that the game might be delayed. Although it’s unclear if this means the game won’t be released in 2025, the studio is still aiming for a launch this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
