The 2XKO Launch Roster will feature 10 champions from the 170 LOL lineup.
Riot Games let everyone know just how many fighters to expect come its release.
But some fans are a little disappointed given the already known lineup and 2v2 setup.
2XKO Launch Roster
2XKO will conduct its alpha lab testing from the 18th to the 20th of April. However, prior to that, we received a direct update from the developers about the impending full launch.
The initial lineup for the 2XKO Launch includes just ten playable characters: Jinx, Braum, Darius, Illaoi, Yasuo, Ahri, and Ekko. These seven characters represent 70% of the total launch roster. The identities of the last three characters are yet to be revealed; we’ll need to wait for future announcements to find out who they are.
Among my best guesses, I’d choose Sett, Garren, and Caitlynn. It’s evident why Caitlyn is a suitable choice for a cable fighter, with her straightforward playstyle being easy to grasp. Moreover, she’s quite prominent in the League of Legends Arcane series. As for Sett and Garen, they are frequently top choices in games that attract players.
Some spectators express some dissatisfaction not only because their favorite character isn’t included, but also due to the nature of the game itself. The game, being a 2 vs 2 oriented title, offers only 10 playable characters, which seems limiting to certain fans.

In this game, you’ll encounter numerous recurring characters in quick succession. This might seem surprising since games like Street Fighter consider a roster of 17 characters small. However, since it’s a 1 vs. 1 game, each match offers a lot of variety. Initially, the 2XKO Launch Roster may appear somewhat limited, but keep in mind that the unique mechanics and strategies make for an engaging experience.
Instead, you could say: Initially, the roster will only include a few characters, similar to League of Legends at its outset. As the game gains popularity and new fighters are introduced by Riot Games, the roster will grow accordingly. However, it’s important to note that timely release of these fighters is crucial for this expansion to happen smoothly.
6 Years for 10 Characters
If the 2XKO Launch Roster had been unveiled just yesterday or if its creators were not the highly-valued Riot Games, players might not have raised concerns. But given that it’s a project developed over years by one of the world’s most prosperous companies, understandably, there are expectations and questions surrounding it.

In simpler terms, Dragon Ball Fighter Z started with 24 characters compared to Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s 36, but Riot can only offer 10 initially. While I’m not suggesting they should have the entire 170 characters at launch, it seems quite modest given that Street Fighter V, a single-player game, had 16 fighters to begin with. For a tag team fighting game like 2XKO, the initial roster seems disappointingly small.
Additionally, considering the history of character releases for this particular game, would you feel confident that Riot Games will introduce new fighters in a prompt manner? It’s possible they might have champions ready to debut, but why risk damaging their reputation by doing so during the initial release?
Even considering the fighters we’re familiar with, some unexpected selections have been made. Illaoi and Braum aren’t particularly well-liked, as evidenced by their rankings – Illaoi is ranked 80th with a pick rate of only 0.9%, and Braum ranks even lower at 85th, with a pick rate of 0.7%.
In the meantime, Ezreal and Kai’Sa hold the highest ranks. However, considering your 2XKO Launch Roster, Riot Games, let’s consider one of the most disliked top laners in the game.
I will retract my statement if they drop Teemo, though, just for the bit if needed.
