In Avengers: Doomsday, not all heroes exhibit immense power; some characters assembled by Marvel Studios are surprisingly ordinary or lacking traditional superpowers.
Avengers: Doomsday Features Some of Marvel’s Weakest Heroes
Titled “Avengers: Doomsday,” this epic movie hits theaters on May 1, 2026. It unites an extensive cast of Marvel heroes from the entire MCU and Fox’s X-Men universe. While some characters possess divine cosmic powers, others rely more on their human attributes to contribute significantly to the team.
Yelena Belova
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Florence Pugh’s character, Yelena Belova, who became the head of The New Avengers following events in Thunderbolts, stands out as one of the franchise’s most significant figures despite not possessing any superpowers.
Regardless, Yelena stands out among the most lethal combatants within the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to her rigorous Red Room education. As a highly skilled assassin, her proficiency in close-quarters fighting and weaponry makes her an intimidating adversary. In “Avengers: Doomsday,” Yelena’s talents could prove crucial from a strategic standpoint, considering her new role as a decision maker.
M’Baku
Winston Duke plays the character of M’Baku, who rules over the nation of Wakanda. He is recognized for his physical strength, commitment to honor, and unwavering devotion to his people. Despite not having any supernatural abilities or enhancements like other warriors in Wakanda who utilize the heart-shaped herb, M’Baku has shown his bravery in numerous battles.
In the grand scheme of battles involving deities, mutants, and cosmic beings, I find myself distinctly outmatched. However, when it comes to teaming up with the Avengers in “Avengers: Doomsday,” M’Baku will undeniably contribute, not only by bolstering the Wakandan presence but also by delivering a few crushing blows with his innate strength.
Joaquin Torres
In “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Danny Ramirez portrays Joaquin Torres, who is Sam Wilson’s trusted associate, played by Anthony Mackie. Currently in possession of the Falcon wings, Joaquin doesn’t possess any superpowers naturally. Instead, he relies on his airborne skills and strategic acumen for reconnaissance and backup operations. However, unlike the powerful heroes he works alongside, he lacks their increased strength and durability.
In the film “Avengers: Doomsday“, Torres stands alongside Wilson, both taking charge of their distinct squad of Avengers, independently of Yelena and Bucky who have formed a new team.
In the movie “Avengers: Doomsday“, Torres partners up with Wilson as they each lead separate groups of the Avengers, not connected to Yelena and Bucky’s newly established team.
Sam Wilson
In simpler terms, the latest character taking on the role of Captain America is Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie. He embodies bravery, honesty, and fighting skills within the Avengers team. Unlike his forerunner Steve Rogers, Sam doesn’t possess the super-soldier serum, a key plot point in Disney+’s series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
In “Avengers: Doomsday”, Sam is an imposing figure, embodying leadership and ethical conviction. Particularly, he holds his ground against the New Avengers, who were once known as the Thunderbolts and are now under government control. Despite his reliance on a Vibranium shield, advanced flight equipment, and honed instincts, Sam remains a human amidst colossal beings.
Agent Carter
Although it hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel, a report from Deadline hints that Hayley Atwell might appear in Avengers: Doomsday. However, her role is not expected to involve her playing a superpowered Captain Carter variant as seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Instead, if Atwell reprises her character as Peggy Carter from Earth-616, she would be one of the few characters without superpowers.
Although Peggy doesn’t possess extraordinary abilities, she is a seasoned spy who played a crucial part in establishing S.H.I.E.L.D. In the series Doomsday, it might be difficult to envision her exact role, but it would be intriguing to witness her and Steve (Chris Evans) during the 1940s or 50s.
