In WWE 2K25’s Showcase Mode, you’ll delve into the history of The Bloodline. This influential group has been active for several years, tracing its roots to the Anoa’i Family, which has given rise to numerous prominent wrestling figures since “High Chief” Peter Maivia first appeared in 1960. Members of this family include Roman Reigns, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Nia Jax, Rikishi, Solo Sikoa, Yokozuna, Umaga, the Wild Samoans, Jimmy and Jey Uso, and more.
In The Bloodline Showcase, there are 17 exciting battles, but due to its rich history, some outstanding matches from WWE’s past had to be omitted. Here are the top 5 bouts that would have made fantastic additions to WWE 2K25.
The Rock vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin – WrestleMania 15, 17, or 19
Among the fantastic three matches between The Rock and Stone Cold at WrestleMania, developers of 2K games have a variety to choose from. Given an opportunity to rewrite history, we might opt for one of the initial encounters, allowing The Rock a shot at creating a new chapter in wrestling lore.
Admittedly, the Stone Cold versus Rikishi fight at No Mercy is already available in Showcase Mode, making another bout seem excessive for The Rattlesnake. However, absent a match between these legendary wrestlers, Rock-Austin, seems like a lost opportunity, considering their rich history together as all-time greats.
Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas vs. The Wild Samoans – 1983 Championship Wrestling
In this contest, you’ll find three representatives from the well-recognized Anoa’i Family. But what truly sets this match apart is that it marked the historic moment when Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas, more famously known as The Soul Patrol, became the first African American duo to claim a WWF championship title.
Similar to the iconic showdown between The Rock and Steve Austin, this encounter carries immense historical weight and would’ve been an excellent addition by the developers. Fortunately, they incorporated The Wild Samoans into the game with a fight against The Dudley Boyz instead.
6-Man Hell in a Cell – 2000 Armageddon
Including retro versions of Kurt Angle, Triple H, and The Undertaker from the iconic 6-Man Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon 2000 would have provided an excellent opportunity for the 2K development team to enrich their game content.
This contest would’ve added an exciting twist to The Bloodline Showcase if it featured The Rock and Rikishi, who are part of the Anoa’i Family. Including them could have provided an interesting spin on the event, potentially allowing them to dethrone Angle. Moreover, such a chaotic match would have been a captivating addition to The Bloodline Showcase due to its unpredictability.
The Hurricane and Rosey vs. Evolution – Monday Night Raw
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m stoked about WWE 2K25, especially because they included Rosey as part of Three Minute Warning. Yet, his most notable tag team title run was alongside The Hurricane. The two champions claimed the title in a Tag Team Turmoil match at Backlash, which means 2K needs to secure rights for no less than eight wrestlers. Given that, it might be asking too much.
In the process of designing new content for WWE 2K25, developers might have opted to include the duo’s title defeat at Unforgiven 2005 against Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. However, for a more straightforward approach, they decided to focus on one of their RAW matches featuring Randy Orton and Triple H from Evolution. In any case, fans are hoping that Rosey’s superhero costume will be added as an update in WWE 2K25 at some point in the future.
Sika Anoa’i vs. Dusty Rhodes – WWF MSG 1980
Instead of concluding or starting with a match that would have added excitement to the Showcase, let’s consider a more engaging option: Let’s intertwine our narrative by incorporating the 1980 match between Sika Anoa’i and Dusty Rhodes at Madison Square Garden, which is reminiscent of the WrestleMania XL clash between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. This way, we can create a more compelling tutorial match for our mode.
Instead of a rematch between the fathers of last year’s WrestleMania headliners, it would have been appropriate to include an encounter between them. Additionally, such a match could have offered a nostalgic setting and added another memorable chapter to the extensive history that the Anoa’i Family has created within the WWE.
WWE 2K25 launches on March 14th for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players.
