5 PS5 Games We Need to See at PlayStation’s New State of Play

The long-awaited State of Play event by PlayStation has been officially confirmed for this week on February 12th. Ever since the start of 2025, fans of PlayStation have been eagerly guessing when the first State of Play presentation of the new year would occur. Although we now know the date, PlayStation is remaining secretive about what they will reveal during their much-anticipated broadcast.

Keeping that thought in our head, let’s discuss five PS5 games that I believe should make an appearance at the upcoming PlayStation State of Play broadcast for it to win favor among gamers.

Ghost of Yotei

Among all options here, this one seems the closest to your original sentence while maintaining clarity: “Out of all possibilities, I’m particularly excited to learn more about Ghost of Yotei during this week’s State of Play. Although the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima was briefly displayed at PlayStation’s recent State of Play event, there isn’t much information available yet. The debut trailer primarily focused on introducing the new world and character rather than showcasing its gameplay.

It’s quite logical that a new trailer for the game Ghost of Yotei might debut during tomorrow’s State of Play, given the excitement surrounding it. With Ghost of Yotei scheduled to hit PS5 in late 2025, this is a game that Sony will likely emphasize in the upcoming months. Showcasing more of the game at State of Play would be an excellent move to kick-start its marketing campaign and potentially announce the official release date as well.

Fairgame$

After the Concord explosion and its subsequent closure, my curiosity about Fairgame$ has grown immensely. As Haven Studios’ debut project, Fairgame$ was unveiled in 2023, positioned as another live-service multiplayer game for PS5 and PC. However, since that initial reveal, there seems to be no trace of Fairgame$, which leaves me questioning its current status.

It’s quite possible that Sony, being the maker of PlayStation, is feeling rather anxious about the way they present Fairgame$. If their initial rollout mirrors Concord’s lackluster one, there’s a risk that Fairgame$ could meet a similar fate. I’m eager to see how Sony will attempt to convince a more skeptical audience than ever about live-service games. Fingers crossed, we get to witness it during this State of Play event.

Judas

It appears to me that the upcoming game “Judas,” created by Ken Levine (who is also known for BioShock), should be coming out rather soon. My assumption stems from Take-Two’s earlier statement that Judas would be released before March 2025 ends. Although I have my doubts about this release window, it seems long overdue for us to get some information on when exactly “Judas” will hit the shelves.

Previously, Ghost Story Games unveiled sneak peeks of the game Judas and its features using Sony’s State of Play presentations. It’s likely that they will follow this trend again during the forthcoming State of Play event, potentially disclosing a release date for Judas at last.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

2025 may see the release of an unassumingly great Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. This game is being developed by Amy Hennig, creator of Uncharted, and Skydance New Media. Known as a single-player, narrative-rich experience, Marvel 1943 enables players to command Captain America and Black Panther during the backdrop of World War II. While it sounds intriguing, we haven’t had much exposure yet to what this game has in store, given that we’ve only caught glimpses of it so far.

The ideal spot for this development to occur would be State of Play, where further details about the anticipated release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra might be shared. Since we’ve been waiting for nearly a year now since its initial reveal, it seems fitting to delve deeper into the gameplay aspects of this upcoming Marvel title, especially if it is slated for release in 2021.

Marvel’s Venom

Although it appears Insomniac is still diligently working on Wolverine, I believe this upcoming State of Play could potentially feature Marvel’s Venom instead. The Venom game, detailed in a big leak from late 2023 by Insomniac, seems to unfold after the events of Spider-Man 2 and acts as a spin-off leading into the next installment in the series, much like Spider-Man: Miles Morales did.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly waiting for any official news on Marvel’s Venom. It seems plausible that Insomniac might decide to reveal the game in an official capacity during the upcoming State of Play event. This would not only provide a sneak peek into what other amazing titles PS5 has lined up for 2025, but it would also imply that Marvel’s Wolverine might be delayed until 2026. If Venom fails to make an appearance at this event, the uncertainty surrounding Wolverine will undoubtedly grow, something I believe Insomniac is keen to avoid.
