5 SHIELD Characters Fans Desperately Want to See Return in the MCU!

Over the course of its seven seasons, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD excelled in various aspects. The series crafted distinctive narratives, offered intriguing character progressions, and provided an emotional journey that was engaging yet manageable from start to finish. However, what truly set Agents of SHIELD apart was its character development. The show delved deeply into each character’s background, aspirations, and emotions, giving them a richness that resonated with viewers. Some of these characters left lasting impressions not only because they were skillfully written but also due to the exceptional acting talent portraying them. It’s no surprise that Marvel enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting their comeback since the series concluded.

If the whispers circulating are accurate, Daisy Johnson from Agents of SHIELD, played by Chloe Bennet, could potentially rejoin the main storyline in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it’s not just her we’d love to see again; here are five other beloved characters who left us yearning for a comeback, now that the MCU is delving into the multiverse:

1. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) – The adoptive daughter of Thanos, who fought valiantly alongside the Avengers in the Infinity War before her tragic demise.
2. Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) – The speedy mutant brother of Scarlet Witch, last seen sacrificing himself to save humanity during the Battle of Sokovia.
3. Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) – A small-time crook turned superhero with the ability to shrink in size and increase his strength, who made a big impact despite not being part of the original Avengers.
4. Vision (Paul Bettany) – The synthezoid superhero created by Ultron, who ultimately sacrificed himself to save the world from Thanos’ snap.
5. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) – Captain America’s first love and a founding member of S.H.I.E.L.D., who passed away in her sleep after a long life of service.

1) Ghost Rider

In the fourth season of Agents of SHIELD, the character Roberto “Robbie” Reyes, played by Gabriel Luna, made his debut. Originally a mechanic, he was brutally killed by a gang but came back to life under the influence of Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider. Upon regaining consciousness, Robbie discovered that he had acquired the Ghost Rider’s abilities and embarked on a violent quest for vengeance following his own death and his brother’s injury. Daisy “Quake” Johnson (portrayed by Chloe Bennet) brought him to SHIELD headquarters, where he collaborated with the team in defeating AIDA and managing the Darkhold. The final scene shows him venturing into the dark dimension with the Darkhold.

Nearly everyone was smitten with Robbie, played by Luna, the instant he appeared on-screen. He portrays a character who is tough yet sensitive, fitting seamlessly into the motley crew of outsiders on Coulson’s team. It’s hardly surprising that he came close to landing his own show following his Agents of SHIELD stint. Given that didn’t materialize, it’s about time we welcome him back! An excellent approach for reacquainting audiences with him would be incorporating him into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe.

2) May

The role of Professor Melinda Qiaolian May is portrayed by the renowned Ming-Na Wen. Throughout the show’s seven seasons, Wen breathes life into the character, infusing her with depth and complexity. May, Coulson’s right hand and deputy general of the team, shows no fear in her pursuits. At the end of the series, we see Melinda May stepping away from active fieldwork to take up a teaching position at the Coulson Academy. It seems as though there is still much more for the character to offer. Although she may not reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a warrior, her extensive experience fighting alongside and against superpowered individuals makes her an ideal candidate for a mentor role.

3) Mack

Initially, Henry Simmons’ character, Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, joined Team Coulson primarily in a spying role. However, over time, he became an integral member of the team, battling alongside all others to safeguard Earth and cherished values. Mack’s acting brings a unique layers to his persona. He portrays a blend of toughness, charm, and melancholy. In our latest encounter, Mack was appointed as the Director of SHIELD, working diligently on rebuilding the organization. Mack’s role as the Director could effortlessly be integrated into the mainstream Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), for instance, by introducing him as a formidable ally to the New Avengers. He could potentially step into the shoes of Nick Fury, providing covert support to the heroes in their missions while remaining a steadfast and powerful figure behind the scenes.

4) Bobbi

In essence, Bobbi Morse (also known as Mockingbird), portrayed by Adrianne Palicki, initially joined Coulson’s team with an objective similar to Mack’s – spying on them. However, her loyalty shifted towards Coulson after serving as his advisor as the Director of the re-unified SHIELD. Over time, both Bobbi and Hunter became crucial members of the team. Regrettably, during a mission in Russia, they were captured and were compelled to leave SHIELD to safeguard the secret of its existence. The series provided a comprehensive look into Hunter’s past, but it left Bobbi’s storyline untold, potentially for further exploration in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe.

5) Agent Coulson

There’s a strong desire among fans for the return of Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who made his debut in the 2008 film “Iron Man”. By the time he was written off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he had won over many hearts. The Avengers were prepared to wage war to avenge the death of this endearing, somewhat quirky character who shared a passion for superhero trading cards. Remarkably, Coulson managed to cheat death on multiple occasions, until his deal with the Ghost Rider’s Spirit of Vengeance ultimately claimed him. However, it’s not uncommon for Coulson to have a surprise up his sleeve, so perhaps we might see him return to the main MCU storyline as his human self rather than an LMD (Life Model Decoy).
