As a dedicated gamer, the thrilling inclusion of Springtrap into Dead By Daylight as part of the Five Nights At Freddy’s crossover has rekindled my passion for this classic asymmetrical horror experience, marking the end of another extended break. Being a player who occasionally steps away from DBD, I always find it fascinating to witness how the gameplay meta evolves during my absence, as balance adjustments render old builds indispensable and catapult new ones into the spotlight. What keeps me hooked, though, are the constants – certain perks in this game that have been universally despised by the community for years, remaining unchanged despite the passage of time.
In the game “Dead By Daylight”, proficiency and practice significantly influence gameplay, and perks you might think are worthless could actually be valuable treasures. Keep in mind that this compilation focuses on perks for both Killers and Survivors that the community generally agrees are among the least effective in “Dead By Daylight”.
Kindly be aware that the following list omits the upcoming changes for PBE (Public Beta Environment), which is set to introduce fresh content to the game.
1) Shattered Hope – Killer
Instead of extinguishing a beneficial symbol left by Survivors, this advantage for Killers enables you to crush it, annihilating the symbol and disclosing the presence of nearby Survivors simultaneously.
As a passionate killer player, I find that Aura Reveal is not typically worth the perk slot in most games. The specific niche of this perk often makes it obsolete, especially since Survivor boons like Circle of Healing have lost their prominence after the recent nerfs. Many fellow players share my sentiment that this ability should be a common action available to all killers, rather than something that requires a dedicated perk slot. Some feel that wasting a perk slot on what they see as an essential ability doesn’t sit well with them.
2) Slippery Meat – Survivor
With this benefit, Survivors can try to free themselves from the hook up to three additional times, and the odds of successfully doing so independently increase by 4% when at maximum rank.
For obtaining a perk slot, this perk offers an individual a 8% possibility of freeing oneself upon being hooked, or if you consider all three attempts, a total of 24%. Given that self-unhooking can only occur during the initial hook, and the odds remain extremely low, it’s evident why this perk is generally viewed as quite weak.
It’s worth noting that previously, this advantage would boost your chances of evading Trapper’s bear traps, transforming it into an engaging tactic when facing off against the Killer in a game.
3) Unrelenting – Killer
At max level, this perk reduces the cooldown for a missed attack by 30%.
In essence, while it’s not inherently bad in concept, there are instances where the shorter cooldown could mean the difference between capturing a Survivor or letting them escape. But consider this: if you miss an attack on a Survivor, they might get far enough away that the shortened cooldown won’t help much. Moreover, opting for this ability means losing a perk slot, and that’s not ideal because the ability only activates when your attack fails – not exactly a fair trade-off.
4) Premonition – Survivor
Among all the benefits listed here, this one is likely to spark the most debate. At its highest level, Premonition offers an auditory alert when you gaze towards a Killer within a 45-degree angle and approximately 36 meters away. Once this warning signal activates, the perk temporarily becomes unavailable until it’s off cooldown.
It’s uncommon for this benefit to activate before you become aware of the Killer by hearing their terror radius or spotting them directly. Although Premonition’s auditory alert might be useful for detecting stealthy Killers, it requires giving up a whole perk slot to receive an advantage that is mainly beneficial in specific, rare situations, and doesn’t offer much overall utility in those instances.
5) Hoarder – Killer
In simpler terms, when a Survivor opens a treasure box or picks up an item near you, the Hoarder will make a loud noise as a warning. Additionally, extra treasure boxes will appear for the Survivors to discover during the game.
In simpler terms, acquiring extra chests and using a perk slot for it feels like a weaker alternative to Dracula’s Human Greed or Dominance perks. Though others might find value in it, I personally view it as an unnecessary investment.
