6 Places Like a Dragon Should Go to Next

In “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,” Ichiban Kasuga, Kazama Kiryu, and their companions embarked on a journey from Japan to the sun-kissed shores of Honolulu, Hawaii. Since Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has extended its stay in this new location, there’s a strong possibility they might choose to set another part of their story in a foreign land when the ninth mainline “Like a Dragon” game is eventually released.

Here are six locations that would be perfect for Ichi and Kiryu to spend a hundred hours or so.

Singapore

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled at the rumors swirling around that Shun Akiyama, a character I hold dear from the Yakuza series, was actually in Singapore during the post-Yakuza 6 events. However, he denies it himself. If these rumors prove true and we get to see more of Akiyama in the next game, it would be an absolute delight for longtime fans like myself.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but get excited about this new setting! It not only expands the storyline but also introduces a spin-off game reminiscent of “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza” in Hawaii. This dual-game package seems like a brilliant move for RGG, given their fast-paced development pipeline. It’s almost like getting two games for the price of one!

Brazil

If RGG (presumably Rockstar Games Ginza) aims to replicate the enchanting ambiance of Hawaii’s beaches at a different tropical hotspot favored by Japanese vacationers, Brazil could be an ideal pick. Furthermore, this scenario would provide a wonderful opportunity to introduce a soccer-themed side quest reminiscent of the Setouchi Warriors mini-game that Kiryu participated in during Yakuza 6.

Discovering the bustling metropolises of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo offers an exciting adventure, given their iconic landmarks. Although neither city lies near the Amazon rainforest, it’s effortless to envision a significant part of the plot transporting you there, showcasing even more of Brazil’s breathtaking landscapes.

England

Among the six possibilities, this one appears to be the least probable. However, it’s hard not to imagine that having Ichiban join a soccer gang wouldn’t be exciting. If Rockstar Games (RGG) were to venture to the UK, the side stories could become iconic.

In terms of the narrative, they’d have to concoct a device or reason for bringing the team here, as every other location ties back to our series in some way. England, however, might seem an unexpected choice, like throwing a curveball. RGG could certainly pull it off, but other locations seem more fitting given the context.

Florida

Talking about intriguing spin-offs, contemplating a Florida-located Sujimon system offers immense potential. The creative minds behind it could further develop the Animal Crossing-esque Dondoko Island and allow Ichiban to establish his own theme park, aiming to rival giants like Disney and Universal.

Indeed, since Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in its interpretation of Florida, it’s likely that Yagami-gumi (RGG) may prefer to avoid any potential conflicts for the time being. If ever the opportunity arises, however, having Ichiban in a Florida setting would undeniably be an exciting prospect!

South Korea

The Korean crime syndicate, Jingweon Mafia, has a significant presence in the Yakuza series, and characters Joongi Han and Seonnee have connections with Ichiban and Kiryu’s gang. This could potentially pave the way for the developers of RGG to expand the franchise into Korea, as there might be lingering matters between these characters and the gang.

It’s highly probable that the game will be set in Seoul, a bustling metropolis brimming with activities. But, the creators might surprise us by transporting us instead to Busan, allowing us to delve into one of the world’s busiest port cities.

Australia

Australia could be the most entertaining choice if we’re talking about pure fun. Ever thought that facing a tiger or shark was entertaining? How about a kangaroo instead? Are you looking for an unforgettable city with stunning coastline? You have multiple options like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, among others, to choose from.

In a creative twist, RGG could showcase its narrative prowess by imitating the style of Mad Max, or have Ichiban step onto the stage at the Sydney Opera House for a performance. The landscape seems tailor-made for an adventure. To add another layer to this, envision Ichiban discovering his hidden affinity for wildlife conservation and taking on a zookeeper role as a unique fighting style in his new journey.

Absolutely, those suggestions represent just a few fantastic directions the Yakuza: Like a Dragon series might head in the future. Since RGG has expanded its horizons by setting two games outside Japan, there’s endless potential ahead. Regardless of the path chosen, fans can expect an expansive open world teeming with thrilling escapades for Ichiban and his companions when the next installment of Yakuza: Like a Dragon debuts.
