7 Burning Questions Tracker Season 3 Must Finally Resolve!

As I delve into the world of “Colter Shaw,” I find that each episode stands independently, yet they all contribute to a larger narrative. The personal life and backstory of our protagonist offer richer layers to the storytelling. In the initial half of season two, an unresolved case subtly unfolded, only to become the main focus post-midseason break. A mystery that Colter had been laboring over since rekindling his relationship with his brother revolved around the circumstances surrounding his father’s demise.

In the final episode of Tracker’s second season, we got an answer to one major question, but there are still several more left unresolved. Uncovering who was responsible for Ashton Shaw’s death is only the beginning. The events leading up to his demise and the motivations behind it are mysteries that the upcoming season might help clarify.

Sharf Is Indirectly Responsible for Her Kidnapping

In simpler terms, Reenie is a tenacious lawyer who possesses both charisma and legal acumen that often helps Colter navigate tricky legal situations, such as when he was trapped inside a fast food restaurant’s back office to examine security footage in search of a missing child. As the series progressed, Reenie became more central, developing her own narrative thread. When Reenie decided to establish her own law firm, she acquired a new client, Leo Sharf, whose ethics were questionable but financially lucrative.

As a dedicated movie-goer, I found myself engrossed in a gripping tale where I, Reenie, was tasked by Sharf to uncover information on a rival. When I complied, he demanded more dubious assignments, leading me down a dangerous path. Eventually, I was kidnapped and narrowly escaped death at the hands of one of Sharf’s adversaries. Faced with an impossible choice, Sharf was given an ultimatum: sacrifice himself to save me or watch me perish. The story didn’t reveal if he made a decision, but it was evident that I was deeply affected by the ordeal. In the final act, I shunned Sharf’s calls as I struggled to come to terms with my harrowing experiences. The intriguing question moving forward is whether I will stay loyal to Sharf in his ruthless business world or choose to leave it behind.

Russell Works for a Covert Paramilitary Group

In the opening episode of this gripping series, I found myself embroiled in the complex relationship between me and my older brother Russell. For two long decades, we’ve been apart, ever since our father passed away, leaving an unspoken rift between us. As the story unfolds, I’d been avoiding calls from Russell, sensing that he was somehow involved in our family’s tragedy. However, when he finally managed to find me, he dropped a bombshell – there was another person present on the fateful night our father died. This revelation sets the stage for a thrilling exploration of our past and the truth behind my father’s demise.

Since then, Colter and Russell have collaborated on a few cases, but Russell’s location is typically elusive – except when he extends invitations to Reenie for tropical getaways. This leaves the audience guessing about his activities. Showrunner Elwood Reid has hinted that Russell seems to know more than the rest of the family, raising speculation among fans as to whether he will reveal more details about Otto and his connection with Mary Shaw, or about Ashton Shaw’s government work.

Ashton’s Government Is Likely Why He Lived Off the Grid

During that particular night, there are still many unsolved aspects regarding Ashton Shaw’s life and demise. Following his encounter with Lizzy at the end of season one, Colter discovered about a hidden box that Lizzy’s mother had kept. Inside this box were research documents and personal journals. In the early part of season two, Colter crossed paths with a mysterious government agent who hinted at Ashton Shaw having an uneasy connection with the government when he mentioned that the Shaws had a history of opposing government interests.

When Colter discovered Ashton’s stack of documents, he unearthed an antiquated phone number for a research scientist who had previously worked at a lab in California, mysteriously lacking any funding. Upon investigating the scientist, Bobby couldn’t determine the nature of their work. What Ashton was doing for the government, why his family chose to live off the grid, and the reasons behind him concealing his research documents with Lizzy’s mother remain unanswered questions for Colter and the viewers. Dory suggested that Colter reach out if he needs assistance deciphering any of the scientific papers in the box, but Tracker has yet to disclose the subjects of these documents.

Mary Shaw Seems Complacent When it Comes to Her Relationships with Dory and Russell

In a turn of events, Colter reconnects with his younger sister Dory who’s grown to become a university physics professor. This encounter takes place when a case leads him to her vicinity. Dory maintains that she’s left their childhood behind her. Colter discusses with her a file about Ashton, revealing he was arrested and served the government for seven years. This revelation strikes Dory, who dismisses their mother as equally unstable as Ashton had been. Strangely, their mother never mentioned this before. When Colter suggested that it might be good for Mary to contact Dory, she remained silent and steered the conversation elsewhere.

In the final episode’s shocking revelation, Colter discovers that Mary played a role in Ashton’s demise. It was clear that Mary knew Russell wasn’t the one who pushed Ashton over the cliff, yet she allowed Colter to believe his brother was guilty in the series opener. Upon learning that Russell had contacted Colter, she advised him to disregard Russell and block the number. When Colter brought up Russell during their reunion, she showed no curiosity about her eldest son’s life, nor did she ask follow-up questions. The fact that she’s distanced herself from two of her children and allowed one to believe another is a murderer needs to be clarified.

The Ominous Note Has Yet to Be Addressed

In the second episode of Tracker, Mary Shaw wakes up to discover a wooden owl figurine crafted by her deceased husband standing near her. Attached to the statue was a note that said, “I’m watching you.” Alarmed by this cryptic message, Mary rushes to Ashton’s locked office, finding the door slightly ajar and papers scattered on the floor. After she phoned Colter for help, he rushed home only to find that Mary had already tidied up the mess, claiming she had overreacted and nothing was taken.

Despite knowing his mother had lied about the incident, Colter chose to overlook it.

Tracker has yet to disclose who left the ominous note for Mary or what they were searching for in Ashton’s office. It could have been whatever was inside the enigmatic box that Lizzy discovered. Otto’s claim of being uninvolved with Ashton’s government work doesn’t seem credible if he was truthful to Colter. If the mysterious observer was still keeping tabs on Mary, did they witness her discovering the box in Colter’s trailer? Could they be connected to this mystery as well?

Something Made Ashton Shaw Run That Night

In the debut episode of Tracker , there were flashbacks to Colter’s past that included the moments leading up to Ashton Shaw’s demise. One stormy night, Ashton suddenly barged into their cabin, warning them they had to flee as “they’re approaching.” When little Dory insisted they wait for their mother, Ashton grew angry and moved towards her. Russell intervened with their father, pushing him against the wall. Ashton expressed remorse and stated it was “him they wanted,” then vanished into the forest. Russell pursued him, but when Colter eventually caught up, Ashton lay dead at the foot of a cliff, while Russell stood on top, looking down.

Although everyone is aware that Otto was the one who caused their father to fall off the cliff, no one can figure out why Ashton felt threatened. He believed someone was approaching and felt they had to flee without delay. He disappeared into the forest with nothing but his clothes, leaving people puzzled about what had frightened him so deeply. He was apprehended for burglary, carried out confidential tasks for the government, and did something that prompted Mary to enlist an external mediator. That same night, Ashton Shaw found himself ensnared by unknown events.

Mary’s Intentions Are Still a Mystery

Towards the end of season two, a man named Otto shares his past interactions with Ashton Shaw. He confided in Colter that he used to work as a line technician for the local power company. While working near the ridge where the Shaws resided, they struck up a conversation. Otto assisted Ashton in setting up a wind turbine to power her cabin and managed to keep authorities away from Ashton, hinting at a unique bond between them. Later, Otto admitted that he was the one who pushed Ashton off the cliff, explaining that Mary had requested his assistance when she did so.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder over the surprising ending of our favorite show, and it seems Elwood Reid raised an intriguing point – Mary didn’t explicitly ask Otto to murder her spouse, yet. However, that opens up a whole new set of questions for Colter to pose to Mary. Questions like, ‘What was it exactly she asked Otto?’, ‘Why did she need his assistance in the first place?’ These are burning queries that need answers, and with Season 3 resuming filming this summer and premiering in the fall, I’m eagerly waiting for them to delve deeper into the depth of Mary Shaw’s role in her husband’s demise.
