7 MCU Characters That Can Wield the Infinity Gauntlet

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, characters often face situations that seem impossible to overcome. Time and again, these heroic figures or groups are pitted against overwhelming adversity, yet they usually emerge triumphant. Of course, setbacks do occur occasionally, like when Peter Parker had to ensure everyone forgot him in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. However, defeats are not common. The only instance where the good guys suffered a major setback was in “Avengers: Infinity War”, when Thanos and his Black Order traversed the cosmos to collect the Infinity Stones. In the end, Thanos accomplished his goal, erasing half of all existence, leaving the Avengers with limited choices.

The Earth’s Superior Heroes unite in Avengers: Endgame, orchestrating a daring time travel operation to secure a fresh batch of Infinity Stones and rectify the situation. However, when it’s time to employ the Nano Gauntlet, there’s discussion over who should do so since not every hero can handle the potency of the Infinity Stones. Eventually, Hulk steps forward, but it’s worth noting that he isn’t the only Marvel Cinematic Universe character capable of wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.

1) Thor

As a devoted fan, I must admit that among the Avengers, it’s only Thor who yearns to grasp the Nano Gauntlet. In the aftermath of our failure against Thanos in Infinity War and his subsequent self-indulgence, he longs to rectify his errors. Instead, Tony Stark and the gang take a different path, but Thor, at the height of his power, handles the Infinity Gauntlet effortlessly. The fact that Stormbreaker, his weapon of choice, slices through an attack from the gauntlet speaks volumes about the immense might wielded by none other than the God of Thunder himself.

2) Sentry

Sentry’s combat history mainly involves facing off against teams of super-powered soldiers and spies, but that doesn’t make for a particularly noteworthy resume. Interestingly, none of the Thunderbolts were able to inflict any damage on him during their encounter due to his remarkable toughness. The only one who managed to harm Sentry at all was Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, but even she failed to activate her kill switch because the Void intervened and protected its host. Consequently, it’s highly unlikely that Sentry would meet an untimely end if he were to wield the Infinity Gauntlet in the MCU.

3) G’iah

If a character possesses the skills of multiple formidable figures in the MCU, it’s challenging to dispute their capability to accomplish any task. G’iah, the Skrull from “Secret Invasion,” overpowers Gravik after transforming into a Super Skrull, but she does so flamboyantly by mimicking moves from Drax, Captain Marvel, Cull Obsidian, and others. Her physique is capable of containing all that power, implying that handling the Infinity Gauntlet would likely be easy for her.

4) Captain Marvel

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), obtaining power from an Infinity Stone presents a unique twist. Characters like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver experience an extraordinary surge of power upon exposure to the Mind Stone. However, Captain Marvel operates on a different level altogether, deriving her power from the Tesseract, and never looking back. She almost single-handedly takes down Thanos before being countered by the Power Stone, making it plausible that she might be capable of wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.

5) Adam Warlock

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), unlike his comic book version, Adam Warlock hasn’t had any dealings with the Infinity Stones. Yet, he’s incredibly potent, making the original Guardians of the Galaxy seem less formidable during their initial encounter. If the new team were to acquire the Infinity Gauntlet and require its use, it would be wise for them to pass it on to Adam Warlock, should the opportunity arise.

6) Loki

In the initial stages of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s safe to say I wasn’t exactly giving off “Infinity Gauntlet” vibes. The Avengers had no trouble giving me a good thrashing, and I’ve always been more about creating illusions than engaging in direct combat. However, things have certainly changed in my Disney+ solo series. By the end of Season 2, I found myself holding the entire multiverse together. If I can manage that feat, there’s no question that the ability to wield all six Infinity Stones lies within me.

7) Death

In the vast expanse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Death remains an enigma, making an appearance in “Agatha All Along” to claim the soul of Billy Maximoff. She’s not someone to trifle with, which is why Agatha Harkness has spent so long avoiding her. There’s a rich history between Death and Thanos in the comics, suggesting that if she deemed it necessary, she could have taken his prized possession without any resistance.
