Once the narrative expands to incorporate a rich tapestry of characters, ‘The 4400’ demonstrates that people are more than willing to engage with a skillfully acted and finely tuned storyline that lacks the usual pyrotechnics and gun battles. Regrettably, the series was cut short by the 2007 writer’s strike, denying us the chance to witness it fully blossom.
